I’ve been trying to clean up my desk cabling. I have an #LG 5k Ultrawide going to a #Level1Techs #DisplayPort 1.4 KVM which in turn plugs into a Mac mini and a #CalDigit TS4 dock for a MacBook Pro. TS4 sits on top of the KVM, so it only needs a very short cable. IN THEORY!

I’ve tried 3 brands of 6 1.5ft DP 2.1 cables and none of them work. Some will not provide any video despite the laptop seeing the monitor connected. Some give a few seconds of video before either blanking or giving static.

I have a #Caldigit TS4. I researched. I (want but) do not need a TS5+. Yes, my Mac has Thunderbolt 5, but it just doesn’t matter. Beautiful. A shame I just don’t need it.

#Apple is supposed to be the best tech right? I got Macbook Air M4 and I go from problem to problem. Now I am in USB HELL because I run TB4 dock (#caldigit TS4) to #tesmart KVM to which I connect keyboard and webcam so that I can switch between work, private and gaming computer. Apparently on M* Macs you can't have more than 4 chained USB hubs... #fml

@macberg I have two cheap #HDMI monitors connected via a #calDigit over #thunderbolt to an Intel laptop. Until 6.3 there was no sound if I login when everything is connected. The speaker icon is crossed out and there are no available sound devices in the settings. But if I login with the thunderbolt disconnected and plug it in later the sound worked perfectly on both the internal speakers or through the headphones jack.

Now it's working regardless of what devices are plugged in when I login.

I worked with their support, tried different firmwares, three systems (Mac with Apple Silicone and x86 and a Lenovo X1) and two operating system (macOS and Windows 11). At some point a mouse starts to lag. And that’s not the worst issue.

Back to a 50€ Anker USB hub. „It just works“

When my #CalDigit TS4 dock fails, I request an RMA. When a TechSupport test restores the dock to proper operation, no RMA is needed. Why am I not delighted to have it back in working condition? I just got a #CalDigit #TS4 and really dig this thing. I cannot wait to get it mounted to my desk and cabled up this weekend, because this thing is exactly what I was looking for for transferring footage, charging things, and generally hiding literally every part of my cabling on my weird rolling standing podium. I'll post pictures once I mount this thing, but I am glad I did this, cost be damned.

Is it just me, or does anyone else here have weird wake-up problems with a #caldigit #ts3 thunderbolt dock? I have two 4k monitors plugged into it, one display port, one usb-c to hdmi. Sometimes the one plugged into usb-c doesn’t wake up, so I literally power cycle the dock to fix the problem.
