The thing about AI for code generation is that I don't think it is universally bad.
But this thread describes a deep pathology that *is* very bad. Companies are paying fewer people to be busier but not to do anything of value. (Also worth reading the post that set this off.)

Watching something stupid on Amazon, and the number of "use AI to eliminate busywork" ads are disturbing.
Doesn't it ever occur to any of these people that maybe the solution isn't "outsource the busywork" but "reevaluate whether the busywork is actually needed and lighten the load on your employees by eliminating unnecessary paperwork"?

Day 4246 of one man's mission to rid his workplace of the practice of pasting a picture of a signature into a Word document in order to approve it.
For one of the rare internal forms where we have set up electronic verification, I was asked today to "add my signature” to it. 🤦🏻♂️

#PetPeeve I’m required to "sign" a form in Microsoft Word format, sent by email. It says “typed signatures not accepted”. So presumably they want a picture of my (fake) signature pasting in? And that is somehow better than me typing my initials?
There are software solutions for this e.g. docusign. More simply, I can reply to the email stating that I agree and they can keep that on file - it's time-stamped and auditable. Why make more #busyWork
