Overview The City of Kennett is a city in and the county seat of Dunklin County, Missouri, along United States Route 412 and Missouri Routes 84 and 25. Overall, the community is in the Missouri Bootheel and is located four (4) miles east of Arkansas and twenty (20) miles west of the Mississippi River. @GregCocks The lesser known #MissouriCompromise created the #Bootheel so that the #SlaveState of #Arkansas was not even close to being within firing range of the #FreeState of #Kentucky. #Tennessee was a ‘split-state’ on the issue of #slavery at the time.
