Ah, #Bitburner, the #game that promises to turn you into a #coding prodigy by having you click buttons in a terminal-looking interface. 🚀 Because who needs real-world #skills when you can pretend to hack into a #digital void for fun? 🎮 10/10 #future #developers and sysadmins approve! 🙄

Managed to crash #bitburner because I forgot to

Me: What are you up to today?
Rodd: Figuring out how to get my game to send notifications to my phone via Home Assistant. He doesn't play games like other people. 😂 (He's playing #bitburner.)

The most important and useful script I've written for #Bitburner is the one that draws a little notepad for me to keep my reminders in-game!

I do love how in #Bitburner after going to New Game +, there is an "arcade" in the game where you can... play an older version of the game 😂
My god it's so janky... Add on to the fact that I skipped the tutorial and couldn't find any documentation of NS1 (the scripting language they used to use)
Apparently there are two achievements for clearing this little Easter egg so -

Okay so #bitburner the game was wayyy more interesting than I thought
A fascinating combination of an idle game/hacker mogul simulator and a "teach you how to program" thing...
The idle part isn't as grindy as some other games I've seen, in fact I guess I could be playing the game, programming for 30 minutes, and already get a ton of money for gameplay progression
So far I am writing a script for automatic hacking script deployment and control... I think I could go as far to write a math formula for optimizing ROI (some ppl playing this game might have done that), but I'm too lazy for it right now lol. Still this is a good distraction from writing dissertation & stuff
And thanks for the random dude who wrote a tutorial on teaching me what a breadth-first search (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breadth-first_search) is... I'll write a script for this later 😂 -

i would really like a #solarpunk version de #bitburner - all that hacking is fun but making money to make money is not really doing it for me

advice for other #bitburner players: cost and reputation requirements for {shadows of anarchy} augments don't reset on augment installation like other factions. buying out all of their augments in one ascension is especially important, moreso than other factions.

*looks at bitburner* oh? :ms_robot_surprised: free robotgirl catnip? :ms_robot_thinkgrin:
an incremental game with built-in support for scripting? the player is expected to automate growth? it's almost like hydroflame was thinking of this unit specifically! :ms_robot_grin: #bitburner
(big thanks to @kasdeya for recommending it!! :ms_robot_elthree:) -

Of all the yearly recaps I've seen, i think steam's by far the most interesting:

#bitburner hit hard at the start of the year, and ending with some old favorites #Factorio and #autonauts

I am currently obsessed with #bitburner
cyberpunk hacking idlerpg where the point is to write javascript to automate the game mechanics.just crossed 1Bn/sec of hacked money, and 4600 concurrent running scripts. Still on bitnode1, and sooo many more mini games to start writing code for. I think i'm up to around around 7 infinite loop crashes of the game. It's my own unofficial mini game. I may be playing this for years.

I actually hate coding.. every form of it.. with every cell in my body...
but coding in #bitburner is kinda fun.

Want a break from Hardware Hacking? Try Bitburner, an online Hollywood stereotype hacking game
https://gadgeteer.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/hack-400x281.jpg If you ever mention to a normal person that you’re a hacker, and they might ask you if you can do something nefarious. The media has unfortunately changed the meaning of the word so that […]

Oh, right. Bitburner had an ASCII rickroll today. Fully animated too.
That was amusing and is well done.

Heh, in Bitburner you can visit the arcade in a city and play 'Megabyte burner 2000'....
Which is just Bitburner inside an smaller screen. :P Yay, time to go play an idle game inside an idle game! ;)

Small Bitburner update. I've beaten BitNode 4.1 and also 5.1, each by homiciding about 15 hours to get enough negative karma, and then nuke that node with a gang backing me up.
Now I've chosen BitNode 10.1 because it introduces the Sleeves technology. Basically Sleeves are clones of myself so I can do multiple things at once. That does include doing crimes to get negative karma very fast, which means I'll be able to form a gang even sooner.
So, in less-than-15-hours I might be able to form a gang, and then eventually break this BitNode as well and have some extra clones at hand for the next BitNode.
Pondering to make use of a corporation as well for near-infinite money so that I can buy all permanent upgrades for my clones before I move on.

I've got an autoscript running in Bitburner to automatically do a crime every 3 seconds (homicide in this case, I'm so bad...). With a bit of luck (or just a long wait) I can have -54000 (yes, minus fifty-four thousand) karma in 15 hours so that I can form a gang in BitNode 4.1 and actually start earning money.
Aaaaand.... that is actually the power of BitNode 4.1, it introduces access to automating a few things including criminal activities. And I'll have access to this in other BitNodes too if I manage to break BitNode 4.1.
Just to wait 15 hours now, heh. ;)
