Ringing practice was good this morning, I rang plain hunt on an inside bell for the first time and we rang some call changes on 10 that were new to me too. I also just finished reading the book for book group this afternoon, with 2 hours to spare 😂

Been to ringing practice this morning and had a go at plain hunt for the first time. I sort of understand what I'm supposed to do but it gets very confusing when you try to do it for real. More practice definitely required.

I went to a different ringing practice this week and rang rounds and call changes on 10 and 12, and covered plain hunt on 5 (or 6? I was ringing the sixth. I'm still learning the terminology, it's like another language.) I even knew what I was supposed to be doing for most of the time, and just about got it right.

Firing the bells for treason and plot, a tradition in our tower on the practice night nearest 5th November. In the 19th century the ringers were paid 7 shillings to ring on this occasion. This year the bells were half-muffled for Remembrance.

Ringing twice today at Gt Gransden, 15th June, which is Music Sunday. First for morning service, and here are five of our ringers who rang for a special Come and Sing service of Evensong.
