I’ve gotten into the habit of buying a ”school agenda” to use as a practise log. Which means it begins and ends in August, and it was time to buy a new one. This years agenda is pink and gold and glittery just because!
I don’t really log much more than how long I’ve practised in it most days, but somehow it helps. And sometimes when there is a lot going on it helps to keep track of how much time I’ve spent on different pieces/instruments.

First proper teaching day of the season was a fun one! Two chamber music lessons, one with a recorder student and her pianist friend, the other with recorder and harpsichord. Both lessons went over time because the teacher got so enthousiastic, ahem. The other lessons went well, too. And I managed to practise both singing (Mahler, Wie had das liedlein erdacht?, much too difficult but good practise) and dulcian between students. Plan for this winter is to mostly focus on singing but rotate the reed instruments so that I’m always working on one of them.

Meeting of two worlds: I’m not at home and forgot to pack my knitting project. Wanting something to do, I bought knitting needles made of birch, but one had a small splinter that catches in the yarn.
Luckily I did pack my bassoon reed making tools and they include sand paper, so I could sand the rough bit down.

Day 2 1/2 at a baroque music summer course. I’m in two orchestras on bassoon (Telemann and Lully), in three chambermusic groups as a singer (Händel, Schütz and Campra), choir (madrigals) and a dance class where we’re learning a gavotte. Oh, and of course voice and bassoon lessons. Days consist of running around and forgetting my stuff if various classrooms. I’m exhausted and having a blast!

I’m going to a baroque music summer course in July, mostly to sing but also to play baroque bassoon. Got assigned to two orchestras, one is playing parts from Lully’s Atus, the other a Telemann ouverture suite. Exactly what I like! Getting used to baroque bassoon again after playing modern for all of April & May. Ordered a couple new reeds in a slight panic. Summer course preparations just as usual. :D

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet, but I’ve got a dulcian of my own! Already for a while actually, but because of the orchestra gig on modern bassoon, couldn’t really start playing it until this week. Very nice instrument, stable and in tune, made by Wouter Verschuren. We’ve got a choir concert coming up with motets by Schütz, so just to have something to play, played through the bass parts just now. It works so well! The loaner I had was impossibly unstable.

@legendarybassoon Thanks! I was actually going to post an update - I found that playing F4 with 1xx 12xx and alternating with open D worked. I'm used to cross fingerings from recorder. But I'll try this option, too!
First concert of this project was last Saturday, second is tomorrow.
