I had not thought about it, but it makes sense that the industrial metal-working technology to make valves for horns in the early to mid 1800s lines up with similar advances needed to make free reeds and other parts for reed organs, accordions, concertinas and harmonicas

Thus we will be celebrating a lot of instrumental bicentennials in the next few decades
