Veeam Patches Backup Flaw That Enables Remote Code Execution

Veeam has urgently patched a critical backup flaw, CVE-2026-44963, that allowed remote code execution with just domain user credentials, scoring a severe 9.4 out of 10 in severity. The update to version 12.3.2.4854 fixes this vulnerability, preventing attackers from running malicious code on the Backup Server.

After some months of usage I now have a #deduplication factor of 22.

I think this is quiet good.

Ich spiele jetzt seit zwei Monaten mit #Proxmox #BackupServer rum und bin von der Performance nicht sonderlich überzeugt. Das ein Full backup mal einen Tag dauert, ok. Aber das ein inkrementelles Backup von ca. 5GB geänderten Daten (von 4,5TB) 7 Stunden braucht, ist nicht schön.
Gut, der Backupserver ist "nur" ein i5-3570T mit 16GB RAM.
Ich will nicht wissen, was das Ding in größeren Umgebungen an Ressourcen braucht 🙄

@Toasterson: Jupp, mein anderer, noch laufender #Backupserver ist ebenfalls ein #HPE #ProLiant #MicroServer #Gen10. Tut problemlos. 🙂

Der #Backupserver ist mittlerweile zwölfjährig — zumindest Gehäuse, Netzteil und die Installation. Mainboard wurde ca. 2012 mal ausgetauscht, die Platten zuletzt vor ein paar Jahren.

Überraschenderweise scheint's das #Netzteil bzw. ein angeblich kompatibles Nachfolgemodell noch zu geben. z.B. bei Mouser. Werde wohl eins bestellen.

Denke trotzdem auch darüber nach, einen #HPE #ProLiant #MicroServer #Gen10 oder Gen10 Plus als Nachfolger zu bestellen und alle Platten zu übernehmen.

Wurde heute morgen um 5 Uhr von schrill-kratzigen Piepsgeräuschen geweckt. Dachte erst, das sei mein Gassensor in der Küche. War aber mein #Backupserver (#Chenbro #ES34069 Gehäuse, #Supermicro #X7SPA-HF, #Debian 10 #Buster, #BackupPC), der alle paar Sekunden rebootete. 😰 Sieht nach serbelndem, externem #Netzteil aus. Sobald ich alle Datenfestplatten rausziehe und damit den Stromverbrauch reduziere, bootet er meistens. 😒 Zum Glück hat man ja mehr als einen Backupsserver. 😉 #Redundanz
