I learned a new word today, which happens to be of Spanish origin. “Autogolpe”.
“A self-coup, also called an autocoup (from Spanish autogolpe) or coup from the top, is a form of coup d'état in which a political leader, having come to power through legal means, stays in power illegally through the actions of themselves or their supporters.[1] The leader may dissolve or render powerless the national legislature and unlawfully assume extraordinary powers. Other measures may include annulling the constitution, suspending civil courts, and having the head of government assume dictatorial powers.[2][3]”
I heard it on Jake Broe’s YouTube channel in the context of Trump firing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and the 3 Judge Advocate Generals (Army, Navy, Air Force).
This is being described as an autogolpe, a self-coup.
The list attached on wiki is of attempted self-coups… Trump/USA is in their twice. As for successful ones, the most prominent is Napoleon Bonaparte.

So, a sitting president of a major democratic republic tries an auto-coup / self-coup. In response, the elected legislature shuts him down, and within 11 days has impeached him and removed him from office, preventing him from ever being a threat to the country's safety, security, or democracy again.
If only some other democracies' politicians actually took their oath to their constitution seriously enough to take action like that. Sorry, "democracies".

NEW: J6 categorized as *attempted auto-coup d’état*
The events at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 were categorized as an “attempted auto-coup d’état” by Coup d’État Project of the Cline Center for Advanced Social Research at the University of Illinois:
>>[O]ngoing investigations ... have revealed credible additional evidence that President Trump was actively involved in attempting to displace the authority of the legislative branch. This new information makes the events of Jan. 6 an attempted auto-coup as well as an attempted dissident coup, according to Cline Center definitions that were first developed in 2013.<<
>>[A] diverse and voluminous array of evidence that has accumulated over the past two years to show that there was a connection all the way up to the president himself. This new evidence goes far beyond President Trump providing encouragement to the insurrectionists....<<
