  4. I'm not sure how I ended up in the crosshairs of the #ASHG vendor spam cannon. I'm not going, nor have I been in over a decade. Unfortunately I had to put an email filter on anything with "ASHG" in the subject/body. The spam is unreal.

It's looking more and more like I'll end up missing #ASHG25 in Boston. I've been to every meeting (excepting digital covid meetings) since 2013.

University cost saving measures are moving toward blocking all professional travel allowances on the change of the fiscal year. 😕

Which would also be the first #ASHG that I've not live tooted since I started doing it. Times they are a changing.

  14. I'm excited to share a preprint of CAMBUS, a new DNA machine-learning application to identify "constrained" open chromatin regions (OCRs)!
By leveraging cell-type-specific OCRs, CAMBUS prioritized causal variants in a cell-type-specific manner.

This work was also presented as a platform talk at the #ASHG meeting last year.

  16. Thanks to #ASHG for the chat with @thatdnaguy about the importance of diversity, representation & inclusion of women & underrepresented populations in #Genomics research/workforce and a bit about some lessons learned throughout my career as part of the Genetically Speaking Podcast!

  20. Research community members on Mastodon! The American Society of Human Genetics committee nomination process was extended.

    apply.ashg.org/a/page/committe

If you're interested in serving, apply for one of the committees! And yes, I mean nominate yourself. You don't have to be nominated by another person.

I've worked on the Digital Learning Committee since it started and have really enjoyed it.

  24. Back when @girlscientist left the DLC committee at #ASHG to join the board, she insidiously convinced me to take over doing interviews for the ASHG Genetically Speaking #podcast.

The first episode of season 3 just dropped.

    learning.ashg.org/p/season-thr

It should be findable on many podcast platforms, not just in the learning center. I personally hate hearing my own voice. But thanks to Erin Konigsdorffer and Ana Bakke we got some great interviews recorded.

  36. Episodes are being released weekly through the Genetically Speaking #podcast. You can get them from the #ASHG podcast page and many different podcast services.

My job was easy, but hats off to the ASHG staff, mostly Ana Bakke and Erin Konigsdorffer, who put this together, did the scheduling for all the interviews, and edited all the audio. If anything doesn't flow well it was probably my mishandling of directing the interview. All the parts that sound great are them.
