Live chat do painel online da @AoIR sobre a instância da AoIR no Mastodon rendeu vários insights interessantes. Em algum momento penso, especificamente, em me aprofundar* nas métricas de sucesso aqui no Mastodon (ou no Fediverso, de forma geral), porque não dá para a gente usar a mesma régua de audiência, acessos, engajamento e crescimento das redes comerciais - na real, com tanto bot nas outras redes, não sei nem se essa régua faz sentido nelas mais.

The live chat during the AoIR online session about their Mastodon instance yielded several interesting insights. I'm specially interested in researching success metrics here on Mastodon (or in the Fediverse more broadly), because we can't use the same yardstick for audience, reach, engagement, and growth that applies to commercial networks—honestly, with so many bots on those other platforms, I’m not even sure that yardstick makes sense there anymore.

I'm not on the #AoIR instance, but I'm a member of the Association, and I'm finding today's roundable with @aram @rwg @couldrynick @driscoll and @paufder really insightful. I didn't know the back story of how the AoIR instance came to be!

2) I know we all teach our children to value love, kindness, and compassion. While we often pollute those lessons by qualifying those pro social values (e.g., love this group but not that) and teach hate, I wonder if our LLMs would eventually “decide” those qualifications and hate are “noise” and the real patterns that describe humans is compassion and loving kindness.

That would be a good future indeed. So scholarly communities like #AoIR or #CHI , how do we get to a future like that? 8/8

“brain rot” being picked as Word of the Year and the whole talk about shitposting and skibidi toilet reminded me that in the early 00s we had two types of Internet slang that were massively popular in Brazil: miguxês & tiopes.

Miguxês was a widespread (and widely mocked) dialect that prob emerged in photo sharing blog service Fotolog and was associated with emocore girlies who emphasised cuteness by simulating baby talk AnD tYpInG LiKe ThIsXxXx
