playing #Akalabeth (sometimes called #Ultima 0) and tbh it's not as bad as I assumed a proto-RPG from 1979 would be. It's closer to a roguelike really, and the loop is fun. The dungeon levels are small enough not to require mapping. I was pleasantly surprised!
also the stick-figure enemies are cute, especially the gremlin

I didn't know that Akalabeth (Ultima 0) had originally sold 12 copies, before it was picked up by a publisher. It then went on to sell thousands of copies and made a decent amount of money!
