I guess I needed to treat myself to something, after quite exhausting renovation work in the house. So I got this #AkaiMPK Mini used from Ebay. It's really a neat-sized thing combined with a laptop.
I wanted all controls to operate the same as those on my #AkaiLPpd8 controller. But the previous owner had changed pretty much everything.
I tried the original editor from #Akai in #Wine, and it runs but it doesn't talk to the device. However, there's #SysexControls, which looks much less convenient, but is native for #Linux and which can configure a number of Akai, #Arturia & #Korg controllers: https://github.com/soyersoyer/sysex-controls
The more recent AKAI controllers feel better than the old ones, it seems to me. Heavier, sturdier… but this thing will do the job.
And it has an inverted keyboard. Because otherwise I'd not look cool enough on stage. 🤪
