It's one thing to have to use #LLM in your work. It's another thing to be either proud of it (i.e., #AIpilled and not being self-aware enough) or just too insensitive that you boast about it all the time.
I now just quit optional meetings when someone does that. Phrases like "vibe-coded dream". Someone's proud of ... hallucinations ... sigh.

Having been on a blissful vacation, I have now resorted to never contribute to a #GenAI / #LLM friendly project again outside of working hours (and that only as far as I work for an #AIpilled company so I have to do it anyway)
Which means it's probably the beginning of the end for my #Fedora involvement - I have high hopes for #Guix adopting a near-ban in the near future, and hopefully #Debian too

So this occurred to me to try a couple of days ago, and what a timely post from @selfcare here ... I'm trying out #NoAIFriday - and likely extending it to the weekend too.
You might be forced or feel pressured to use #AI - specifically #LLMs - at work. Your community projects might be #AIpilled as well. But apart from the ethical and environmental reasons why the current LLM proliferation is both bad but also unsustainable -- it's also bad for you personally! It can cause burnout (HBR: https://hbr.org/2026/03/when-using-ai-leads-to-brain-fry); it can cause #CognitiveImpairment (MIT, Cornell via BBC: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd6xz12j6pzo)
So I'm practicing #SelfCare by going cold turkey on Fridays - artisanal coding only (I'll make an exception for #OncallDuty) followed by a mild form of #TechShabbat (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technology_Shabbat) over the weekend

The top 1% of #AIadopting firms, termed “#AIpilled,” spend $7,500 per employee monthly on #AI, significantly less than the average software engineer’s salary. While AI spending is rising, it’s not yet surpassing human costs. https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/10/ai-pilled-firms-spend-7500-per-employee-each-month-on-ai/?eicker.news #tech #media #news
