Edgar: I believe continuing to condone his approach (or Joe McCarthy's) would have led INEXORABLY TO the death squads, much as condoning #AgolfShitler's would today--though I believe you're right that UNLIKE Trump and his MAGA entourage, neither Hoover nor McCarthy would ever have INTENDED that outcome.
Sadly, the whys and wherefores of that argument are more than I can actually spare the time for these days (I seldom go beyond ONE round of back-and-forth dialog here, due to those costraints). But i am deeply impressed with the depth of your understanding and the heft of your arguments--even where I believe we differ--so im going to give you a Follow in the hope of future opportunities should my obligations ever be more permissive!

Because the Constitution we HAVE has given #TRUMPUBLICANS the presidency through 2028--so lopping the head off #Trumpism's snake NOW would simply replace an obviously sundowning, incompetent clown who was never that bright to BEGIN WITH, with a YOUNGER, MORE COMPETENT FASCIST like Reichsleiter Vance or Commander Mike "Small" Johnson, R (Gilead), with two years to prepare--as an incumbent president--for a re-election bid that #AgolfShitler ISN'T EVEN ELIGIBLE FOR.
If--God forbid--the midterms fail to deliver A TOTAL BLOODBATH for Trumpublicans, I could see some value in launching a process to remove him THAT WE KNOW WILL FAIL, just to get it on the record (which may be the point Julius is making). But for now, I would have to say the strategically wiser choice is to leverage all Trump's failings & fascist loathsomeness TO DELIVER THAT BLOODBATH--and THEN, with a Democratic Speaker of the House third in line, launch the attempts to remove Trump AND Vance and actually save the nation.
