So apparently, Chancellor #AgolfShitler--while railing, at his #AllAboutMeFest last weekend, about the evils of all his "communist" enemies--has opened a small chain of gas stations using taxpayer subsidies to sell the fuel at a (slightly) below-market price, to create the illusion that his endless, illegal war of choice in Iran ISN'T making voters pay more at the pump all the way up to the midterms--and the commentary is delicious. 😅

LinkedIn continues to get it wrong on hateful speech...this time, affirming on review that its idiot censors think *citing Mike Godwin* (creator of Godwin's Law)--who recognized back at the beginning of #AgolfShitler's FIRST term that he & his #MAGAts were an exception to the principle that comparing your opponents to nazis meant you'd lost the argument--as a leading indicator of this sentiment constitutes hateful speech (which, as I've noted separately, is pretty much THE MINIMUM acceptable professional reaction to nazis ANYHOW), rather than a reasoned (AND DOCUMENTED) professional argument.

The fascists are doing everything they can to dismantle the right of the People to vote--the most fundamental right in a democracy--so they can consolidate permanent minority rule under their #TurdReich.
Blue state governors need to start requesting international election monitors NOW, to document the extent, duration, and impact of these attacks on the Constitution on their ability to conduct a free and fair election this fall.
If it becomes necessary for those who swore "to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC" (emphasis added) to intervene to restore the rule of law, it's going to be crucial for us to have all the evidence we can get showing that #AgolfShitler and his minions have placed themselves irreversibly in that category.

This is a good article. The growing Republican dissent approaching the midterms IS significant, because it signals that even Trumpublican congressmen & women from solidly red districts ARE FEELING THE HEAT FROM THEIR CONSTITUENTS IN WAYS THEY WORRY COULD THREATEN THEIR JOBS.
It DOESN'T truly mean that they're breaking with the #MAGAts' fascist agenda--and it SURE as hell doesn't mean that any American who loves the Constitution and liberty & justice FOR ALL can give them another chance & vote for them in good conscience--no matter HOW much they PRETEND to espouse our Conservative values.
But it DOES mean there are legitimate, organic political fires under their feet--and we should be identifying AND STOKING those fires between now & November to ensure that all of #AgolfShitler's gerrymandering & voter suppression comes to naught, and we have a Congress that will render him a lame duck and hold him and his minions personally accountable for their ASSAULT ON the Constitution, throughout fascism's last two years in office and beyond.

Reporting does acknowledge that the vast majority of defendants CHARGED are of Somali descent. But this here is the mastermind (there's other solid-source reporting--from CNN--that uses that wording, but I won't give them my data so i couldn't read it to verify the gist).
So even if we accept that #AgolfShitler's #InjusticeDepartment is charging impartially, this is a story of A WHITE, U.S. CITIZEN exploiting Somali Americans, providing them with income to front HER scheme to defraud the taxpayer.

@mike805 China has always played a hedging strategy. Where Russia largely picked a side and focused on it, China tries to buy/influence BOTH EQUALLY. That was one of the principal takeaways from my generation of Intelligence leadership.
I disagree (with some caveats) on your conclusions about J. Edgar: I believe continuing to condone his approach (or Joe McCarthy's) would have led INEXORABLY TO the death squads, much as condoning #AgolfShitler's would today--though I believe you're right that UNLIKE Trump and his MAGA entourage, neither Hoover nor McCarthy would ever have INTENDED that outcome.
Sadly, the whys and wherefores of that argument are more than I can actually spare the time for these days (I seldom go beyond ONE round of back-and-forth dialog here, due to those costraints). But i am deeply impressed with the depth of your understanding and the heft of your arguments--even where I believe we differ--so im going to give you a Follow in the hope of future opportunities should my obligations ever be more permissive!

While the story is, overall, talking about a crisis in RETENTION, not recruiting, THE CONTRAST ITSELF is, I would argue, the buried lede. At the individual level, obviously, it's good to see servicemembers unwilling to be part of #AgolfShitler's campaign of dismantling the Constitution we swear our Oath to, at home, and of committing industrial-scale war crimes abroad.
But the Administration's focus on solid recruiting numbers reveals what needs to be a more concerning truth: that at a SOCIETAL level, what were seeing here is a systematic strategy to purge our military of TROOPS, as well as senior leaders, whose loyalty IS to the Constitution, AND REPLACE THEM with new recruits from the ranks of America's fascists, white supremacists, apocalyptic 'Christian' nationalists, redpilled misogynists, and other committed #Sturmtrumpers, whose loyalty is to der #Trumpenfuhrer and his goal of transforming America from a self-critical democracy into a blindly loyal, Christofascist Gilead.
That point needs not to be missed. And the fact that this is reaching down into GUARD units whose governors will need to refuse federalization and employ them to repel fascist federal invasions should worry us as well.
