  1. CW: Advice on uploading to Vimeo/YouTube

    This is a professional cry for help to anyone who knows about this stuff.

    Why is uploading videos to an institutional Vimeo account from an work MS Teams account failing?

    - I am trying to make a series of Guest Speaker Videos Open Access;
    - my institution is helping (with passwords, IT support, etc.) but it's not enough;
    - I'm getting failed or incomplete uploads and errors.

    What am I doing wrong/missing?

  2. Nothing like a young person to forever remind you to 'get to the point' - my son, now 18, has been reminding me of his since his age of reason (7): mamma, and your point is?!

  3. I am conflicted on many academic & ethical levels re. #AcWri & #AcademicCommunication in the business that #HigherEducation has become, but I can't make these tensions explicit on the Bird Site because my presence there is an institutional one and I tread tender ground both there & here.

    But: this tweet & what it endorses bother me:

    twitter.com/helens_word/status

    - it is self-promotion
    - it gives a platform to someone who promotes easy fixes to academic communication.

    Am I just too old school?

  4. The need to make a living means I do not published much, but last year I was able to reflect, with Kerstin von der Krone, on the _History of Knowledge_ blog (historyofknowledge.net) at the end of my 10+ years at the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC.

  7. @FractalEcho I have also seen and used the cumbersome #AcademicCommunication on Twitter, following the LSE Impact Blog's lead. That's the one that seems to have stuck over there. Not sure about here.
