Привет, Хабр! Конференции серии AAAI — крупнейшие события в области искусственного интеллекта, которые утягивают на себя внимание в начале каждого года. Местом проведения AAAI 2026 стал Сингапур, что позволило мне — директору лаборатории когнитивных систем искусственного интеллекта AIRI и Центра когнитивного моделирования в Институте искусственного интеллекта МФТИ Александру Панову — и многим моим коллегам принять в ней участие. По ходу конференции я вёл заметки о докладах и событиях, которые были мне интересны, общался с коллегами, подмечал тренды, фотографировал. Посмотреть было на что. Например, AAAI 2026 стала первой в истории экспериментальной площадкой такого уровня по использованию LLM в качестве рецензентов. Я решил собрать всё в один большой репортаж, чтобы те, кто по какой‑то причине не смог присутствовать, смогли хотя бы прочитать о том, что там происходило. Конечно, обозреть всё на такой огромной конференции невозможно. Но если вам, как и мне, нравятся нейросимвольная интеграция и RL, то вам будет интересно. Поехали!

Привет, меня зовут Айдар, я занимаюсь исследованиями в области машинного обучения и ИИ в AIRI и МФТИ. В январе этого года я впервые побывал на конференции AAAI в Сингапуре — и должен признать, что такое большое мероприятие (по крайней мере, с точки зрения числа участников) я посещаю впервые. Хочется поделиться с вами впечатлениями от этого масштабного события, а также рассказать про тренды и интересные доклады, которые я там послушал.

#AAAI in Singapore was a welcome respite, but now I'm back. I ate So Much Food. (See image.)

The conversations I had made me feel better that many researchers have some reasonable ideas on capabilities and risks of current AI systems, but it was interesting how few knew of cognitive architecture research and also how many treated agential AI as little more than composition of LLM-driven subsystems.

@ASegar There are multiple #AI professional societies and have been since the 1970’s. The main international AI society is: Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (#AAAI). There are also important AI societies under the auspices of #IEEE such as the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, and the IEEE Computer Society. Under the #ACM Association for Computing Machinery is #SIGAI Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence. These are just three of the oldest, well-established professional societies with significant international membership. There are dozens of the smaller societies and interest groups associated with every major topic in AI, such as machine learning, and with virtually every scholarly and engineering discipline.

Wow. AAAI 2026 is running a pilot “AI-Assisted Peer-Review Process”. Besides regular reviews, each paper will receive one extra LLM-generated review. No scores, but visible to reviewers and authors.

I take it that as an AI conference, AAAI was eager to try this out. Not looking forward to writing the author response to an LLM’s opinion on my paper, though. Also not sure how this will help reviewers.

I worked on autonomous systems that draw on a variety of AI technology capabilities; more vulnerable than most AI apps. Link is preprint of my paper for #AAAI Spring Symposium 2015. We use insights from doctors and a representation learning approach called sparse coding to achieve high performance on two lung data sets. Our system delivers results in <4 sec on an iPad and <8 sec on an iPhone and provides outputs to support human interpretation.

This weekend will be exciting! John E. Laird (https://laird.engin.umich.edu/), Yoshua Bengio (https://yoshuabengio.org/) and @garymarcus are speaking at #AAAI #FSS 2022 on Thinking Fast and Slow - https://sites.google.com/view/aaai-fss22/program.

Laird and Bengio represent the cognitive-symbolic and statistical-sub-symbolic views respectively. Both have architectures that implement some form of 'fast and slow'. @garymarcus ofcourse is the chief cynic :)
