Bol heeft naar aanleiding van ons onderzoek toezeggingen gedaan om haar online platform op meerdere punten te verbeteren in het belang van consumenten en verkopers. De webwinkel verbetert de snelheid van haar communicatie en klachtenafhandeling, maakt concurrentie tussen zakelijke verkopers eerlijker en zorgt voor een duidelijkere prijsweergave van producten. ✅

That it's even a reasonable (likely, really) possibility reflects poorly on the clear direction some, if not many or most, of the organization's leaders want to go.

If tokens are a meaningful measure of human cognition and effort, then you can use them to empirically verify claims about thinking and mental effort.
For example, take a claim that making a certain harder change now will pay off in the long run. You could set up experiments: take a common starting point; have one system make the hard change now, the other just leave it. Then run both through an identical sequence of changes -- fix a bug; add a new feature. Refactor something. Upgrade to a new library API. Then just compare total number of tokens.
Of course, the initial assumption about a correlation between human cognitive load and tokens is...a pretty big one. And in the experiment, the final output may not work exactly the same, making a token-count comparison not quite apples-to-apples.
But we do this kind of stuff all the time -- look at fMRI studies, or EEG measurements. We know those are flawed -- think of the "dead salmon in the MRI study" -- but this seems like an interesting avenue.

Man, the ACM website -- the Association for Computing Machinery's site -- is so confusing with all the usernames and accounts.
I am trying to subscribe to one of their mailing lists and it's asking me for an email address and a password. As an ACM member, I have an @acm.org email; my account also knows about my Macalester email, and my newer St. Olaf email. I have tried all of those, and all the various passwords in my password manager. None work.
If only, somehow, someone who knows something about, say, human-computer interaction, or how to use, uh, computing machinery to run a website with user accounts, mailing list subscriptions, and so on.
(Context: I just want to sign up for the SIGCSE-LAC list -- the special interest group for computer science education's committee for liberal arts colleges. https://computing-in-the-liberal-arts.github.io/. This should not be hard. Grrr.)

Een stichting sleept de ACM voor de rechter en eist een schadevergoeding van 15,7 miljoen euro vanwege 'falend toezicht'. Dat gebeurt namens voormalige klanten van Flexenergie, dat in 2018 ten onder ging. Het is voor het eerst dat consumenten geld eisen van de ACM.

Je kunt flink besparen op benzine en diesel door de keuze voor een tankstation. In veel gevallen scheelt het tot ongeveer 25 eurocent per liter. Dat is voor een volle tank zo’n €12,50.
Vooral onbemande stations zonder winkel, die meestal niet aan snelwegen liggen, bieden vaak de laagste prijzen. Maar ook binnen dezelfde woonplaats kun je soms meer dan €5 besparen als je een andere pomp kiest. ⤵️

Oh, god I missed it back in May but the new ACM Policy on Authorship is pretty awful. I expected better from the #ACM than:
