Feeling a bit shite since last night, not sure what's got me. Been lurching around the garden half dead and noticed a swarm of tits (black head, no yellow, marsh tits perhaps) feasting on our sunflowers, ignoring the fact that they're hanging upside down and shouldn't be accessible.
The sunflowers were supposed to dry before harvest but with this weather they were rotting instead, so I got a knife and chopped off the heads, saved what I could, sliced all the juicy bits off and threw the rest into the sauna for lack of a better space.
They were mostly ripe but not dried enough for threshing. Gotta get them dry somehow without turning mouldy.
The questions remains what to do with the huge stalks. Compost or woodchipper?
