  1. The 1967-68 UK TV series Man in a Suitcase takes the basic ITC action-adventure formula and adds a hardboiled flavour, real toughness, grittiness, plus seedy downmarket glamour. And more than a hint of film noir. The best of all the ITC series.

  2. Peter Leslie’s The Cornish Pixie Affair, from 1967, the fifth original novel based on the TV spy series The Girl from UNCLE starts with a murder in a circus (a setting that is used extremely well). Statuettes of pixies play a role. Enjoyable.

  3. Three 1964 episodes of my favourite US anthology series, The Outer Limits. The Invisible Enemy has sand sharks on Mars. It's OK. Wolf 359 is excellent -scientists create a miniature world. I, Robot is quite good - a robot is tried for murder.
