I’ve been rewatching the original Star Trek, and there’s one thing I noticed that really strikes me. They use way more extreme close ups than I feel like any other show.
I know part of it is watching it on a much larger screen than anyone owned in 1966, but the times they would linger on Kirk’s face with soft lighting is unprecedented.
I watch a lot of older TV, and I don’t feel like this was that common.
Anyone know the behind the scenes on early Star Trek production?

The Green Hornet (1966-67) is a TV series which I personally much prefer to its contemporary Batman. Closer in feel to the original 40s serials. Hardboiled crime stories with some gadgets to add spice and just a touch of outrageous adventure.

Venus Smith, the forgotten Avengers girl. She was Steed's partner in six 1963 episodes. Fascinatingly different from the other Avengers girls. She had zero combat skills but she was a useful agent. And quite charming.

Lost in Space by Dave van Arnam and Ron Archer is as its name suggests a TV tie-in novel inspired by the classic TV series. It's not a bad sci-fi novel but it really doesn't have the feel of the TV series.

A look at three episodes, all originally aired in 1973, from Brian Clemens’ horror anthology series Thriller, one of the finest ever TV series of its type. The Colour of Blood is excellent while Murder in Mind and A Place to Die are very good.
