La chroniqueuse relève le problème que pose cette connivence pour des questions d'homogénéité sociale, professionnelle, et d'exposition de la politique politicienne, principalement.
Il y a un point central, absent explicitement du texte : en démocratie, les médias sont le "4e pouvoir", un véritable contre-pouvoir (OK, il y a des conditions à cela et rien ne se fait parl'opération d'une simple baguette magique. N'empêche). En brouillant les frontières entre espace médiatique et espace politique, la présence d'ex-politiciens dans l'espace médiatique québécois affaiblit l'espace du débat démocratique.

Coming from #Biden, that exact statement might have prompted calls from across the political spectrum for him to drop out of the race. From #Trump, it was a blip that barely registered. I’ve previously called this dynamic “the banality of crazy”: Trump’s ludicrous statements are ignored precisely because they’re so routine—& #routine occurrences don’t drive the news. They are the proverbial “dog bites man” stories that get ignored by the #press.

Ban repeat liars from live interviews
Never put a lie in the headline
Use a truth sandwich when reporting on lies
Don’t take the bait (stop rewarding drama with visibility)
Abandon the social media algorithm (don’t let Xitter dictate the news cycle)
