Tried rewatching 3 Body Problem (1) on Netflix. Found it a little brash and this time looked like it was part of a Bond series. So, thought I would try the book. So bloody glad I did.
I have never experienced such a massive difference between a book (immaculate, superb) and a screen adaptation (blingy and clichéd). Too much pandering to a dumb-down audience. I accepted the need to move the story from China but the screenplay lost pretty much everything of the book.

Civilization Number 6 is obliterated by extreme cold from one of the flying stars.
Civilization Number 7 only progressed to the point of developing Pawternity Tests using Bear Stuffing but was destroyed by Tsarina Beatrix's Chaotic Reign Era (we don't complain).
Civilization did not re-emerge for 90 million years.

Leyendo teorías de fans respecto a qué harán en futuras temporadas de #3BP, es como "espero que no hagan <tal parte>" y yo como "ah, cierto, eso pasa en el libro". Y luego "qué harán con <tal parte>" y yo "ah, eso también pasa", "<tal otra>", "ah, sí, también", "¿y los caníbales en Australia?" "aaaah, cierto, eso también está en el libro".
Qué libro más reloco. Si uno comienza simplemente a nombrar cosas que pasan en el libro, la gente de fijo cree que uno está inventando…

The #ThreeBodyProblem #TVSeries on #Netflix is a rather good adaptation of the #SciFi books by Cixin Liu. 👏🏽
Captures the essence of the story and makes it broadly palatable without full fidelity to the original characters. 👌🏽

No les puedo dar una opinión de #3BP en #Netflix desde el punto de vista de alguien que no ha leído los libros. No tengo idea cómo llega la serie con ese público.
Desde el punto de vista de alguien que conoce el material original, la adaptación es muy satisfactoria. Reacomodaron, cambiaron, reordenaron (mucho), omitieron. Todo eso es cierto, pero el resultado sigue siendo 👌
🤞 para tres temporadas.
La segunda va a ser una fiesta de efectos especiales.

Hasta ahora (ep. 3) #3BP complace.
- el manejo de "three body" es bueno
- el reacomodo de personajes parece innecesario pero no estorba
- van un poco rápido narrativamente
- no captura el "aquí pasa algo raro" del libro
- intro llena de spoilers
- muy bien la rehidratación -

Creo que lo que #Netflix está haciendo con los avances de #3BP es una grosería.
Recuerdo que leyendo el libro, no fue sino hasta bastante avanzado (¿~50%?)) que comencé a intuir por dónde iba la historia realmente. Inicialmente yo estaba seguro que estaba leyendo algo como "diamond age" o "snowcrash" y no "war of the worlds". El clip con John Bradley no hace spoilers, pero el avance final deja claro que se trata de una cosa y no necesariamente de la otra.

Found this article about David Benioff & Dan Weiss interesting, especially the part about not getting executive producers credit on House of the Dragon, which was essentially free money.
The real meat is of course the upcoming Three Body Problem, and that tidbit about their cancelled #StarWars movie, which at least had the the angle to be totally detached from current characters, movies and TV shows. #GameOfThrones
