@nicholas @walkman I haven’t been watching much lately cuz I’ve been doing things IRL. I’m going through all the #JamesBond films as well as #24onFOX S08 at the moment, but progress on both is very, very slow. There are some #Christian-ish movies ( #TheForge and #AmIRacist) coming out in theaters as well as #RingsOfPower S02 that I have NO idea how I’ll fit in my schedule…

Glancing over footage of #24onFOX for quality control of my #BluRay rips, and dangit if this show does not have impressive cinematography. I’d have to easily say that #TheOffice has far more impressive shots than #24onFOX does.

@CSB Succinct halftime review of #SecretInvasion; only watch it if you like the genre. It is, above an #MCU project, a genre show. There’s much more DNA with, say, #24onFOX or #TheXFiles than even something like #AgentsOfSHIELD, which I’d say is the most similar #MCU project to #SecretInvasion.
Main characters are put in an interesting place at the start but they don’t seem to be going anywhere throughout the runtime. We also don’t get as many fight scenes as the trailer insinuates that we’d get. The best thing about the series is a death scene at the end of the third episode.
I wouldn’t say that the characters are unlikeable, more like they’re boring. Also, the villain comes off as slightly dumb.

CW: 24 S07E21 Spoilers
One of the few spoilers my parents gave me of this show is that Jack ends up not dying, but goes to a Mosque to pray to God before he is healed from the virus.
S06 seems to set up that he’s okay with death, but #24Redemption and S07 both set up that the wrestles a bit with the ethics of his behavior. He believed that testifying before Congress would atone for his actions, and when he couldn’t do that, he’s at a loss for how to live with himself. The folks at the #FBI are pointing out some inconvenient truths to him even if to some extent he has been right that certain things had to be done.
They didn’t like the plotline but it seems like it kinda works. Lots of people try to turn to God when they are dying, and he’s the nearest religious dude.

@lnxw37b2 Haha perhaps 😂 But that’s usually reserved for stuff with gruesome injuries like #911onFOX, or plenty of blood like #24onFOX (even 9-1-1 is afraid to show a realistic amount of blood!), and while I haven’t seen the #WWE, I can’t imagine it has much of either.
It was really the S that caught my eye a bit more though…like, it’s wrestling…why would they need to sexualize it? Especially when it’s men fighting, when I’d assume that the primary audience is men.

CW: Slight 24 S07E10 Spoilers
What I find really interesting is how the writers of #24onFOX S07 chose to use the villain’s relationship with his girlfriend to humanize him.
Like, he’s this terrible man who’s committed atrocities and genocide in #Africa and yet, he’s able to have genuine love for someone.
Granted, this isn’t anything particularly crazy, but it’s definitely not something we’ve come to expect from the writing in #24onFOX.

@coolboymew I've only seen the most recent #JamesBond movie (yes, I know), so IDK how sensitive he usually is. I don't think it was bad that he was so sensitive in #NoTimeToDie, but it did make the first part of the movie drag a little bit, for what an action film is supposed to be.
I think a nice cycle of the character continually getting calloused and broken and calloused again is a good way to go about it. We get a lot of that in #24onFOX and I think that's going well so far (I'm in S07 rn). Have a movie where he starts off soft, gets hardened by the end, starts off hard, gets softer by the end, etc. etc.
You can also get the illusion of character development without anything actually changing, another thing that presumably makes for a good #JamesBond franchise -

So my #24onFOX encodes from 1080p to 1080p? Takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to encode a 43 minute episodes.
#TheXFiles from 480p to 480p? 11 minutes to encode a 48 minute episode.

Well this isn’t great
Just now realized that a select few of the #24onFOX episodes I’ve been ripped have exported in 1612x1080 instead of 1920x1080
I think I’ll keep em for now, even tho it’s weird. If it bothers me I’ll try and find the #iTunes files somewhere (I’m destroying my original copies when doing my compatibility/compression encodes for the #PLEX server)
