Many trying to sway within .XM spec with no fx or filters or plugins. only samples. -
@protman no you need 5 quarter notes. that's 5 beats per bar. no matter what your LPB is (I keep it at 8), your pattern length must be a multiple of [LPB times 5]. in case of LPB=8 thats 40, 80,120 etc. It helps if you have "highlight every LPB lines" in song options (it's default), and you can set also metronome to "beats per bar" to 5.

it's a tracker pattern font pack for #renoise that includes instructions on how to install/swap them. One set of fonts I made myself from scratch that match the original #impulsetracker font. They perform like pixel-perfect bitmap fonts even though they are TrueType (TTF). The purpose was to replace the blurry, dull, anti-aliased DejaVuMono font that arrived with the "retina" updates 🤮 -

Now that #WeeklyBeats2024 is done, I can't stop making music, which is kinda surprising, but I'll take it. The only issue is the missing pressure to finish tracks. I might need to set me some arbitrary goals.

Repurposing an Athlon Gold 3150U laptop as a retro gaming #htpc and going to try #bazzite with the steam deck option. I also need to research some games that have the accessibility of modern casual games, but run on older consoles. Sets from recent shows that included mostly #impulsetracker tracks from the early aughts, that I had split up into stems for live mangling, have received two surprising compliments and comparisons to both Stockhausen and Atom™.
The only musical effect available in that tracker is a low pass resonant filter (with some hacks for high pass), which allows samples and looping instruments to sound a bit like a subtractive synth, also with rudimentary drawable envelopes. -
After seeing #vnv and now #assemblage23 I think I understand future pop. It's really about the vocals being very accessible and reachable in any voice so it's easy to learn the often emotional and sentimental lyrics and sing along. You don't have to get wrapped up in celebrity or vocal acrobatics to take part and feel close to the music
