Obvious candidates would be Suunto 9 peak pro or Coros Nomad.
If anyone has input regarding personal experience I would be grateful.
A primary usecase would be tracking and having a track at my wrist, especially on glaciers!

The weather was perfect, food at Tannenhütte was nice as usual and at the summit plateau it almost felt like winter.

Crazy idea of the day:
could I use the Overpass API to find all possible weekend hiking trips in the alps?I want to get tuples of tourism=alpine_hut which are not more than 7h walking distance from each other and can be either reached within 4,5h from a common parkinglot or have a bus stop within 4,5h walking distance.
From what I understand, even path distance sadly isn't trival in Overpass and generating such a query for a reasonable part of the alps probably means I need would need to set up my own OSM server with Overpass-API, right?
It really would be nice to not having to scan maps manually but actually being able to automate the process and get an automatic list of suggestions!

War jetzt spontan auf dem Bodenschneidhaus vom Schliersee aus.
Ob man Schneeschuhe braucht oder nicht ist gerade sehr abhängig von der Wegewahl. Auf meiner Route definitiv, aber es hätte genug Wege gegeben, wo ich sie nicht gebraucht hätte.
Alles weniger Alpin als drüben an der Rotwand, aber die Bewertungen der neuen Pächter dort haben mich abgeschreckt und so war ich Mal auf einer neuen Hütte auf der ich im Sommer nie übernachtet hätte, weil keine hinreichend weiten Touren.
Das Essen war hervorragend und mehr als reichlich, die Hütte kratzt bei jedem Schritt, aber sie ist schon eher runter gerockt und etwas mehr putzen könnten sie auch. In meinem Zimmer fand ich nicht nur einen Weberknecht sondern auch eine Große Winkelspinne, das könnte schon Gäste abschrecken und das Klo wird offensichtlich immer nur bei geöffneter Tür geputzt 🫣
