  4. It's all rather emotional: my book has been sent to the printer! It's the culmination of a huge amount of work, but not just from myself:

Thank you to all those at O'Reilly who have worked so hard to make what it is, and especially to Louise Corrigan, Corbin Collins, Katie Tozer, and Kate Dullea.

Print copies will start appearing around the end of Oct, and digital editions before then. I'm adding bonus content to the book's website too: bit.ly/46F0LUZ

  8. @Steve_Read @weltraumpirat @ntcoding @jchyip
That article by Adrian Cockcroft had many insights. Building a quick version to get started, and then adapting to new needs, both make total sense.

If people are saying "Amazon got it wrong" then they have the wrong idea about and design. We know it's not like a skyscraper where you design it once!

From what I can see, the Prime Video team ran into integrators and adapted accordingly.

  9. @comocamp may be over, but dates have been announced for 2024! May 6-8th 🥳

  10. at : here is a simulation of what some people with see when you use coloured for
Some of the colours are the same or very similar. See the third image for a set of stickies where the colours are distinguishable or the shape/size is different. You can also use symbols, or cut the sticky like @Steve_Read

1 in 12 men and 1 is 20 women have colour vision deficiency so you cannot rely on colour alone to communicate.

    learning.oreilly.com/library/v

The visual part is the one available. The other sections are multi-modal, knowledge and remote communication. Publication should be Sept 2023!

  18. @adamsdesk @blakeashleyjr @sirber
You'll be pleased to hear there is a large part of a chapter dedicated to how to use email properly in my upcoming @OReillyMedia book 😉

  19. @[email protected]
    I concur.. I mean agree 😜
And there's nothing like writing a book on software architecture for @OReillyMedia to practice translating the complex into the comprehended (ok, the understood, but I just had to go for alliteration there...)

I'll be checking for complex language as I edit and there may even be a pattern in there all about keeping communication simple 😉

  20. @pcameronpresley your article on keeping track resonated with me 😊

What you said about #ContextSwitching got me thinking about the prioritisation. When choosing what to start next would it be best to choose something that would mean not switching context?

I use a method that has elements of #gtd , but I have found the #EisenhowerMatrix doesn't work for me. I have something more like your system for processing the inbox for both that and prioritisation (now, not-now, not), at the moment.

  24. @Wojtyr my favourite tool so far for this is Obsidian. Very customisable with tags, links and back links, and then the myriad of plugins.

I use Readwise Reader to save and highlight articles, pdfs, etc, and sync those to Obsidian. Amazing Marvin to manage projects and tasks.

One day I'll write a post or series on productivity for architects and developers, but I'm sure it will apply to many others. #oneday
