  3. There is a terrible myth that always starts with “Sorry to interrupt, I just have one quick question …”

These are 2022 stats but they still ring true. For my teams the full 52 minutes of interrupted coding is more likely to occur on Friday.

  9. Oh the shame, running on autopilot I just started writing a subroutine with def.

Maybe time to go back to bed, or just not write any python for a while.

More seriously, there is perhaps something to be learnt from this about , and a sweet spot of not too short so as to build focus, not too long to forget details, but finding a Goldilocks zone for me as an individual.

  10. #ContextSwitching is a real pain many #developers have to deal with... It's a real burden on #productivity and, let's face it, on #motivation

I have always been aware of this and tried to organize my work so I can spend full days on topics

But just realized this is not enough, switching contexts multiple times per week, even for full days, has the exact same impact

So now trying to regroup contexts "blocks" over the two week period a sprint lasts to minimize the impact

    We'll see how it goes

  11. @eliocamp I just had my first #spanish course for the trimester and when I opened the image I immediately though "Oh neat, I can use Gippitylikes to generate study materials?!" and then immediately remembered what your initial toot was.

    #contextswitching is a hell of a drug.

  14. “Studies also show that what psychologists and neuroscientists call “interleaving” learning — where instructors mix different topics, ideas, and activities together during study, forcing students to intentionally switch between them rather than focusing on a single subject — can result in better learning outcomes for students.”

  15. @pcameronpresley your article on keeping track resonated with me 😊

What you said about #ContextSwitching got me thinking about the prioritisation. When choosing what to start next would it be best to choose something that would mean not switching context?

I use a method that has elements of #gtd , but I have found the #EisenhowerMatrix doesn't work for me. I have something more like your system for processing the inbox for both that and prioritisation (now, not-now, not), at the moment.
