  1. I wonder why #Emacs #eshell, of all the shells, doesn't do the "remove stuff from the buffer and overwrite it" trick while more primitive terminal emulators can

  2. Yikes!

    #bookDepository has closed?!

    Was *the* place to order books if you wanted to not use $AMZN

  3. @mph Can relate! Switched from #OfflineIMAP to #isync/#mbsync after about a year -- way less trouble with UID problems (i.e. none) since then 👍 And no email got missing ever since. At least none I noticed.

  4. 1) Self-hosted Linkding works great, the browser extension is fast and looks good!

    2) LinkThing iOS app works great and is snappy. No problem syncing at all.

    Both beat the #pinboard equivalents from the past 10y that I used.

    Time to move on.

    I’m using an #unraid NAS in another room with Docker.

  5. Anyone here using #clangd and clang-format for #cpp and could help me with a format setting that would make operator chains put one per line?

    Imagine this is too long for 1 line:

    foo().bar().baz()

    I want to chain transformers like so:

    foo()
    .bar()
    .baz()

    But with LLVM settings, clang-format currently tries to use as few lines as possible, so I get either

    foo().bar()
    .baz()

    or

    foo()
    .bar().baz()

    depending on where I hit return with auto-formatting enabled

  6. @godlike I'm currently switching between #Intelephense (paid) and #PHPActor -- I'd love a combination of both. :)

  7. Did really nobody with #xcodegen run into issues building iOS projects?

    <rdar://113405968> building for 'iOS', but linking in dylib (/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/SDKs/MacOSX14.4.sdk/usr/lib/libSystem.B.tbd) built for 'macOS macCatalyst zippered(macOS/Catalyst)'

    May also be another dylib next time. It's weird that there's not a lot of search results on the web for this

  12. My first isukatsugi rabbeted joint to make a longer board from scrap

    Learned that I need to account for the kerf and cut half a millimeter off the line, and always cut with both hands: the worst, wobbly cut was when I had one hand an the handle, another to stabilize the blade od my #dozuki. Not needed!

  13. I can get small plywood sheets in a nearby DIY market to make sides for open shelves we have. I need to cut them into slices width-wise, ok; but I would also need to join them length-wise. The only way I know is with half-lap joints. But I'm talking about sheets, not boards, so only a couple of millimeters thick (maybe 5mm).

    Can't use dowels at that side, either.

    What to do, what do do.

    That's probably where experience kicks in: ton prevent fiddling where it would worsen the result.

    @daniel and team share #TelemetryDeck stats. It's a very short post, but the numbers are pleasantly type-set, so 👏 nice!

  21. @publicvoit @brunoarine Not sure if you're arguing for these things (which are good points) in the correct discussion. The #BASB approach, more or less, depends on e.g. WIP project folders. Not long-term filing.
