  1. That's it Elric. That was the third soul this week. Take your damned sword and get out!

  2. @danct12 I've had bad experiences with Pi's and SD Cards with any sort of reasonably live filesystem. SD just wasn't built for that

Every SSD Pi I have put together has been pretty much rock solid. It also solved my issues with long term stability that had driven me away three times (HA is on a NUC now)

This is going to provide a core network service for as well as provide a handy desktop above my workbench if I put a display in it.

I have other HW for that though

  3. Quite likely overkill for the scheduler but it will be interesting to have a full development environment as well.

  4. @SovereignAndrey @Edent has done it already. This is pretty much exactly what I had in mind right down to the tree view.

It looks like part of an ongoing blog activity. They also made similar tools for Twitter. You'd definitely be better off with one from someone more experienced than I am.

I may just adopt it (or fork a variant) for

  5. @SovereignAndrey the first CLI is something I'm calling TootExplorer.

It will allow *me* to figure out exactly what happens in the 'life' of a toot

One of the first tests is finding all the things I have posted with the tag and pull them into an Obsidian Vault

I can then use *whatever* I have tooted in the past as design documentation extremely easily.

TootExplorer will be at the 'nuts & bolts' level of toot understanding as a tool for me to learn

    The next tool is PullTootHashtag..

  6. @SovereignAndrey and I am now spending a day re-evaluating commonly used desktop apps and finding better replacements to improve desktop workflow and make it easy to interact with

When you have to. There will also be a whole 'scheduling' core for push/pull operations likely running in isolation in a container using crontab on a local in-house server

It may gain a local Mastodon instance container to organise accounts and primarily just act as relay between & fediverse

  9. A word of advice.

Never embark on building a Personal Knowledge Management sudden that fits *you* without being prepared for it resulting in it reorganising your entire digital life!

But it's an amazing thing to do and comes with *so* many benefits
    - no 'data' permanently in ☁️, has it locally & organised across data sources by structure and
    - Twitter, Trello, Evernote 'dead' data local & searchable
    - multi device push to
    - 'useful' CLI tools as part of building

First time I have tried it. Very, very nice. It doesn't get in my way. When I proofread I have much better correction hints than just spelling.

    It's awesome so far 👍 👍

After four hours of usage. I'm very impressed.

  11. I had switched to because of my ESP projects. I was only doing a minimal amount of code so it was also fine for that.

will be a large number of libraries used to build a variety of CLIs that will implement functionality. That will also make it possible for others to tailor the core part to their uses.

Haven't forgotten heat shrink on a connection since I put this *directly* in front of my soldering iron. Move it out to the work area when I start and heat shrink is sitting in my face to remind me.

  19. This is their (now discontinued) ESP8266 Colour WiFi Display kit. The ESP8266 is a Wemos D1 Mini Pro.

Comes in a very nice case, good protective packaging for parts and everything you need. The board for mounting the D1 Mini Pro and display is inside the static bag at the front left that is reflecting a lot of light.

    Designed by Fred.

Not a surprise that the still has an unbuilt kit. I gave one to a local teen who was interested in electronics. Trying to set the hook as it were.

  20. Ooops! The just whipped his tail down across my hand!

One does *not* make twist ties out of perfectly good unused wire! Especially straight off of the spool!!

    Ouch!

Now using the snarl of telco patch wire that I collect every time I see the opportunity. Yellow/blue should be good enough, it's 28AWG and the protected strings for the lights themselves are much more visible than I expected. Even more so than the green outdoor ones I had there before.

    Won't matter when it's dark 🤷‍♂️

  21. It's everywhere. Is there a worldwide shortage of lames I didn't know about? This is nuts!

    But you know what?

Scalpels are really, really sharp; the blades are very cheap and there are *lots* of blade shapes.

Not only that, I can use them for lots of other tasks. 💡💡💡

There is likely even one (or more) lurking somewhere. Now where would the dental tools be hiding? 🤔

  22. @amanzer how long are they? 😀

Just kidding, I'm sure there's something here somewhere. Just a matter of finding it. Or making it!

    I got lots of junk!

  23. @kibcol1049 so close and yet so far. Found my headphone extension cable which, of course, being the 🦖 I am has a quarter inch plug.

    Need ⅛ to ⅛ 🤦‍♂️

Time to do the only possible thing. Leave this out in a really annoying place and let my subconscious dwell on where my self may have stored something like that. 😂

I am entirely unsure of whether the fact that I have found a multitude of ⅛->¼ adapters already is a bad or good sign.

  24. So, thanks to *ahem* helpful interest, I spent some time thinking about blades.

I don't have the skills/knowledge/tools to *make* something like that.

But *sharpen* it, that's my territory. Even a razor blade.

    Meet the KBQ Slasher.

Let's see if I'm talking through my hat.

    * if this works, future me would to *thank* @smellsofbikes for the hours to be invested in modifying the 22 remaining unused blades.

Cuz this here will find it impossible to throw them out now! 😂

You're either going to have to buy something or get that 3D printer going to fix the broken foot on your BT keyboard!

    Nope. Still got junk.

  27. Hmmm. Either everyone is baffled or (most likely) no-one is particularly interested.

    Tough. Here's another clue.

    Likely the giveaway one.
