Decided I needed some alt country to motivate me to get ready for returning to school today for term 5, so I got Midwest Farmer's Daughter by Margo Price playing which I'm really enjoying so far. Thanks random listicle that recommended it!

This Evel Knievel documentary I'm watching is lousy with random celebs with no connection to him at all. But I'm still watching it cause I was obsessed with him and his son Robby growing up.

Not enjoying this #NASCAR All-Star race at all. They've basically just completely abandoned the concept of it being an All-Star event with like only 10 full time drivers not being in the final stage, and Dover was predictably a terrible idea for a track for such an event.

I only rank Freddy vs. Jason about mid pack as either a Freddy or a Jason film, but I really appreciate them bringing back Hypnocil as a major plot point. I think it was clever and showcased that they were truly fans of the series.

My morning album today: Radio Ethiopia by Patti Smith Group. Hot take, but I think I actually like this album more than Horses. It is harder edged, with Lenny Kaye's guitar prowess on full display.

It was reported this week by Bianchi that Corey Day is being seriously considered to take over the 48 car in Cup if Alex Bowman, having a very poor season, doesn't pick it up to get re-signed. I don't think he's remotely ready for Cup yet, but he at least had good timing getting his first non-draft track win today in very convincing fashion.

I really don't like John Dean. Dude has remade himself into an "expert" on scandals and corruption as a successful author who MSNBC and CNN love to bring in so he can call whatever is happening "Worse Than Watergate" but like, that doesn't mean he wasn't guilty as fuck in Watergate.

The Beats were so enamored with Neal Cassady but I'm like "He's just a manic-type bipolar person with a drug problem, I can introduce you to 5 this afternoon"

Sundance Channel has a true crime show I'm obsessed with after a couple episodes called True Crime Story: Smugshot about the crimes of super entitled, powerful people like rich Karens trying to wreck other people's lives (first episode) or corrupt politicians (second episode)

Now that Ozzy is dead can we as a society just agree that nobody should ever pay attention to anything Sharon Osbourne says or does anymore?

I stayed away from the block party happening at the library because I couldn't guarantee I wasn't going to corner the mayor or a city councilor about the casino project, or the data center, or the educational cuts, or the rabid anti-homeless policies.
Instead I chose calm and got acupuncture done at the mobile clinic and watched out the windshield.

Literally just had to coach myself "Ben, do not shout at the mayor, do NOT shout at the mayor" when I walked by him going to an event at the library near my house. I hate that conservadem son of a bitch.

Just described Watergate, whose world I frequently dip into seriously at least once a year in some form even if its just another rewatch of All the President's Men while reading Wiki article, as my "emotional support political scandal"

Have spent a lot of my day ranting to my groupchat about the origins of 2nd wave/"midwest" emo in the 90s, talking about early bands that started it like SDRE, Texas is the Reason, and Jawbreaker and how the influence of post-hardcore bands like Jawbox and Quicksand and even Fugazi were probably even stronger than the OG emocore bands on the development of the early bands.
