🍿 The Incubus (1981)
💀★★★
🩸★★
🍑★Sam Cordell, a small town's doctor, takes matters into his own hands after a series of gruesome and bizarre rape crimes perplex the clueless authorities.
I don’t like Sam. Not one bit, even though he ultimately means well. I don’t like his persistent wry smile and I don’t like how he examines patients in a manner that would appear to do more harm that good. Overall he just gives off a sleazy vibe.
I do like doctors though. Especially in this film. You can have a total disregard for the law, barge into peoples houses, beat up their kid and kidnap them and the police chief is pretty chill with the whole thing. Doctors rule! They do what they want!
This slasher has some supernatural elements and some really well done camera work at times. It’s a somewhat Interesting film but not what I wanted and I won’t be watching it again.

we just watched Final Destination 2 on DVD with extras including a behind the scenes history lesson docu short about how they made every kill look real. Fascinating stuff, the docu is called Bits and Pieces: Bringing Death to Life. It shows how they dressed an actor up in a puppet and then sliced him into three pieces… Soooooo gooooood.

Anyone have any horror movie suggestions?

I just watched it last night, but my initial impression is that it's one of my all-time favorite #horror #movies.
That includes #ItFollows, #NightOfTheLivingDead, #AGirlWalksHomeAloneAtNight, #LåtDenRätteKommaIn, #GetOut, #Sinners, and #Nosferatu: #ASymphonyOfHorror.
I generally don't like horror because it seemed to be mostly #slasher #gore porn for decades, and I literally can't stomach that.
Movies like these have gore but don't center it, exploring broader themes.

🍿Happy Death Day 2U (2019)
💀★★★

🍑N/AThis sequel to the first film redeems the original in every way. Honestly, watching them back to back feels like one complete film. Like a great story was written and then halved into equal parts at the last minute. It’s amazing how well story pieces from this film fill in logic gaps in the first.
All of the characters return for a fun, thrilling and surprisingly moving film that occasionally wrestles with some thought provoking ideas.
I’ll definitely be watching these again over the years.

1980's He Knows You're Alone definitely takes a lot of notes from the stalker horror of 1978's Halloween... that's... that's what all horror thrillers did between 1979 and 1982. And... beyond too, I suppose. Either way, it's one of the very first acting jobs for some nobody named Tom Hanks!

1980's Savage Weekend is often dog-piled but I kind of find it to be an interesting movie that was part of that boom of early slasher horrors that were crossing over from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre types of horror to Halloween stalker/slashers. Plus, this movie has a hell of a sexy scene with Caitlin O'Heaney.

Time for Friday The 13th Part 3. "A New Dimension In Horror" Because it's the 3D one, get it? 😂

"How can you like slashers? They're all the same!"
Technically no, they just follow pretty rigid formulas. But that's the point: I know what I can expect before I even start. That's comforting. It's especially great when I'm low on energy, which I am *a lot*.

2019's Black Christmas set off a firestorm when it hit theaters. Is it really that bad? It's maybe more misguided and comes up short with what it wanted to do than it is actually a bad movie.
