I honestly don't think CANBUS would exist if it was conceived in today's world. Manufacturers are doing a hell of job making it harder to access information from the car even with CANBUS (one of the many reasons I won't buy another Honda). -

I've made these kinds of errors since I was a teenager ☺️Once when I was 32 I parked in a garage that you had to enter through a casino. Going back to my car they just asked my age at the door and I said 27..... No idea where that number even came from.

This frightens me.... While I like that I won't be forced to fix unimportant things the fact that cars around me may not have fully working brakes or lights is not comforting. It was bad enough when we went from annual to biannual inspections.
