  1. Between 2002 and 2016, the website Gawker exposed the misdeeds of the famous and powerful in signature snarky style. Then it was brought down by a Hulk Hogan lawsuit, bankrolled by tech lord Peter Thiel. To understand its legacy, @THR talks to former staffers who were at the center of the storm.

  2. Feels like I hit elite levels of what one can squeeze out of one software tool today - Was working on a real tricky car sound recording, to then flip it to a #Crankcase #Rev sound object / model.

I’ve been to the point of ”I wish the tool was less mvp” ages ago. For that it’s sort of fun to come across any very specific thing really, where you can push the tool to make it bend a little bit more.

  3. Canonical Sith Abilities (From Movies Only)

I decided to make a list of all the Force powers the Sith demonstrate in the movies. Feel free to let me know if I missed any!

    Original Trilogy

    ------------------------

    Force Choke -- Darth Vader

Force Choke over Zoom -- Again Darth Vader

Force Block -- Sorry, Han, your blaster isn't going to take out Darth Vader. Nice try, though.

Force Grab -- Han gets his blaster stolen by Darth Vader

    Force Lightning -- Emperor Palpatine

    Prequels

    ----------------

Corkscrew flip -- "I am the Senate!" Not sure this has much utility beyond looking cool, but I don't think he was able to do that from acrobatics skill alone.

Force Scream -- Done during the corkscrew flip. Not sure what its for besides sounding intimidating, but that's probably enough excuse to expend Force power on something for a Sith.

    Sequels

    -------------

I'm not counting anything Kylo Ren or Snoke did, since I don't consider any of them Sith, though they also demonstate some unique abilities, most notably the Force freeze of the blaster bolt.

I'm also not sure how to characterize the source of the teleportation connection regarding Kylo Ren and Rey, but since it's between two non-Sith, I don't consider that a Sith Force ability, either. That ability also seems to be unconsciously invoked rather than intentionally controlled.

Force Resurrection -- unclear how it works exactly, but somehow Palpatine returned, and I don't think that happens after being slam-dunked down a Death Star shaft without some weird wizard magic.

  4. The verdict is on on "The Paper," the spinoff from NBC's "The Office." "'The Paper' doesn’t really work as a direct 'Office' replacement, since even at its strongest, it never remotely approaches the comedic levels of its parent show," writes @RollingStone's Alan Sepinwall. "But it may at least function as a methadone-like substitute for fans who love the original but feel like they need to stop rewatching 'Casino Night' and 'The Lover' over and over again."
