  1. I'm still loving #Arzette but it's not a perfect game by any means. I would love the ability to hold down or up and have the screen pan. There are some blind jumps that add a bit of irritation to the game.

It's mostly a good time though and the soundtrack is to die for. It appears I'm about 3/4 of the way through the game.

  5. I finished stripping the rubberized coating off the #Asus #EeePC and I'm super happy with the results!

One feature of this #Netbook which I knew nothing about is that it has two power buttons. One button boots up to the #Windows OS as expected.

The other button fast boots in about 8 seconds to a bare bones #Linux distro called Express Gate. Apparently it's built into the motherboard chipset which is why it can load so fast.

    This is awesome!

  6. @jacenboy Woah, Nice! 👍 There is nothing financially irresponsible about getting a #PocketPC

They are nowhere near irrelevant. They can last for days with a new battery, have TONS of apps and games and most importantly are private unlike out cellphones these days.

I really like the Axim X30. The rocker switch on the side makes it amazing for reading and scrolling through documents. It's a shame that most #PDAs eventually dropped this feature.

  11. All right, who's the person that thought rubberized coatings on everything in the mid to late 2000s was the cool thing to do?

This is an #Asus #EeePC 1005PEB and the lid was covered in the thickest rubber coating that I have encountered so far.

Of course, it had gummed up over the last 15+ years and I have been slowly removing it with isopropyl alcohol for the past hour. I went around the edges and have half of the cover cleaned.

  12. After installing multiple community versions of #Windows XP with no luck, then the HDD started giving me partition issues.

Thankfully I had an old Hiren's Boot CD from 15+ years ago. It saved the day as always & I was able to get the HDD situated.

I then installed an original #WinXP SP3 iso & installed the Asus drivers afterwards & it worked like magic.

It seriously took ALL day but I'm happy to see this #Asus #EeePC working like new. Even the battery is still good. 👍

  17. One memory I would have liked to have kept suppressed is just how bad driver issues used to be in #Windows. 😆

Driver discovery and installation is one area where Windows really improved over the years.

I remember being impressed with just how good it was upgrading from XP to 7, but Win 10 was near perfection in my use case.

I bring this up because I was trying to revive an old #Asus #EeePC this week and it was a challenge.

  18. @marteloschwarz This looks fantastic and is something I have been wanting for a long time.

A scripted #DungeonsAndDragons solo adventure #GameBook along the lines of something like #TunnelsAndTrolls.

I have never understood why there is so much support for Oracle systems that just come up with random events compared to a well-written handcrafted solo campaign or adventure.

I have really been waiting for something like this and can't wait to secure a copy!!!!

  23. Oh yeah! I was pretty rusty but after playing a game or two with each one of the controllers I refurbished it all came back to me.

    Such a fantastic game!

I need to locate my high score list from years ago and see where my current score ranks.

Anyone care to challenge my #HighScore?

  28. I have had the #DungeonCrawler 'The Quest' on my steam wish list for years. I don't know why, I've just never got around to purchasing it.

I didn't realize that this game started life on the #PocketPC. It is now running on my #WindowsCE #SmartBook at a glorious one frame a second.

While this game looks wonderful, this device is woeful. 😂

  29. There are a trio of seemingly excellent #Diablo style games this #Steam #NextFest.

#DarkHaven Is an insta buy for me. It's destructible terrain brings something fresh to the genre and It also plays perfectly with a controller on the #SteamDeck

I could easily play this demo all day but I'm forcing myself to stop. 😁

#Crystalfall and #Martyr pretty much require a mouse and keyboard. Neither of them control well on the steam deck, but what little I played they look quite promising.

  30. @james That's interesting and thanks for the link. I just was more curious than anything.

I'm definitely going to keep this as a Windows CE device. I'm a huge fan of #PocketPC PDAs and #WindowsCE devices.

However, it's always neat to see what other OS's people are able to successfully boot on devices.
