A #privacy question about @simplelogin ... if I use #aliases and #ReverseAliases, the service is great but domains (even premium) are sometimes rejected because detected as "disposable".
So I use my own domain (let's call it dom.be) and I register it on #simplelogin. By doing that, I can enjoy #simplelogin service and not be seen as using a disposable mail service.
But then, my domain is "exposed": a malicious counterpart might decide to expose dom.be everywhere and start spamming stuff like "[email protected]", "[email protected]", etc?
Domain is registered under my name, so anonymity is lost too?
Am I going too far? Is there a best way to do this?

#Proton owns and provides #SimpleLogin which is basically unlimited aliases. Lately they also integrated it into #ProtonPass which made it really convenient. I used to manage custom domains in the past for email aliases too. But then I found that I didn't really have to own a domain for that. Moreover, the SL domains aren't linked to my real name in public records.

Is anyone else having trouble using @simplelogin email aliases with @github. I'm getting an error saying 'email domain could not be verified.' Can't seem to make it work for my account. Is anyone else facing this issue? cc: @protonmail

IT part: Hang on if you want to read, this might get long...
- Passwords: on #ProtonPass (in synergy with #SimpleLogin) with family pass.
I'd prefer #Bitwarden (or #VaultWarden on PikaPods), but the bridge with SimpleLogin might get heavier. And migrating my family is a hassle.
- VPN: I love my #mullvad but if I stay with Proton Pass, grouping subscriptions at Proton with Proton VPN would be good... Except that I tried it, it wouldn't connect on my Linux, I gave up and asked for a refund. -
Oh, interesting, looks like the #Zulip containers include the email server setup for sending and receiving emails.
So I guess "left as an exercise to the reader" is how to run multiple email servers on your infra, especially if besides this functionality for Zulip you would also want regular email server, and maybe something like #SimpleLogin
I guess it might be possible on a single IP with something accepting emails for all, and then talking to the appropriate server. Or maybe haproxy/nginx 🤔 -
So, creating a #GitHub account with a #simplelogin email with your OWN domain works, but marks your account as spam, rendering your account useless. They just don't want simplelogin accounts I guess. Well, guess I'm creating a gmail account just for GitHub that forwards my mails to simplelogin that forwards my mails to my real email. You wanna play games? I love games.
Stop trying to get my real email. It's not going to happen.
