Going barless and minimal: My journey to a zero-shell, keyboard-driven Hyprland setup
As you may know, I have been aiming for a no-bar, no-shell (Quickshell etc.) and no-heavy GUI setup for a while.
For a week now, I have not used Waybar, Rofi, Thunar, Overskride, nm-tui or Swaync, along with a few other apps that did not suit my lightweight, fanless laptop setup. In fact, I have completely removed all of them from my system.

Heartbeat-мониторинг cron-job'ов: dead-man-switch на FastAPI
Обычный uptime-мониторинг проверяет, отвечает ли сервис на запросы. Cron-job ничего не отвечает — он запускается раз в N часов, делает работу и молча завершается. Если cron перестал запускаться (uptime daemon упал, машина в read-only mode после fsck, disk full) — обычный мониторинг этого не видит. Решение известно с 70-х — паттерн dead-man-switch (он же heartbeat). Я недавно делал heartbeat-эндпоинты для Valpero. Здесь разберу серверную часть на FastAPI + клиентский bash-pattern, и edge-кейсы которые их ломают. В конце готовый код, который можно адаптировать под свой стек.

Linuxiac.com har skrevet en god artikel om, hvor appdistributionsformatet Flatpak er på vej hen, og det ser ud til, at fremtiden byder på tættere integration med systemd, for at indfri de langsigtede tekniske mål.
Artiklen berører også, at netop den beslutning om tættere systemd-integration kan have stor betydning for systemd-fri distributioner - så måske ender udviklingen af Flatpak-teknologien med at køre i flere spor? Svaret på det er helt åbent for nu.
