Is #zvault a dormant/dead project? I haven't seen much activity on their git project for several months.
I was looking for a reliable front end for just iSCSI NAS storage via #zfs and some sort of simple HA failover between two storage servers. I need no bells and whistles. Don't care about docker or bhyve. Storage is just going to be a target for low use VM guest storage.
I saw #TrueNAS had changed over to Debian and also moved all HA to their enterprise licensing. I don't have much problem with licensing unless it becomes complicated. In this case, it looks like they really really want to sell hardware, and I just need to set up a reliable dev lab on spare gear.
Are there any reliable front ends for this kind of setup, or am I going to be doing a lot of scripting?

I've never seen any spam in our channel since it started in 2018. in the #leiningen channel (since 2009) it's happened 2 or 3 times. the #emacs channel had some until they required registered nicks, which is a lot less unfriendly than going invite-only. I wonder if you just got really unlucky. -
