I love this YouTube channel. "Hard Off" is a chain of used stuff stores in Japan.
This guy is a manager at one store, and is making videos of himself playing covers of Japanese hits using junk-level instruments. This is one of his most popular videos, where he turns the "ham it up" dial to 11, a cover of "Rusty Nail":

Is there any way to get #fedilab to show new notifications in the app itself? The web client shows you an unread count on the bell icon and I'd like something similar.

In Japan you know a company is in serious trouble when you see footage of long lines of police investigators with cardboard boxes entering the head office.

Big Motor is a used car and auto repair chain, often used by insurance companies for repairs. Turns out that, among other things, they've padded work by doing more damage to vehicles with hammers and clubs, then charging for those repairs as well.

I will never not stop refrain from sharing my possibly most favourite #YouTube video series - "The Secret Life of Components" by #TimHunkin
If you ever saw the old TV series "The Secret Life of Machines" twenty years ago, this is the very same Tim Hunkin sharing all that he has learned about using sensors, chain, glue and so on and so on.
If you did not, you *still* need to watch this. It's just all around brilliant. Here's the introduction episode:

#Japan life pro-tip: never get #Nuro #Hikari internet service.
Their support is bad, bordering on actively malicious. We have spent a couple of weeks trying to cancel it, with them obstructing itvat every turn.
The speed and price may look tempting but don't put yourself through the pain. Choose a different provider.

#Typhoon 6 is due to pass over #Okinawa main island on Monday and Tuesday.
Now, typhoons aren't exactly rare - we have a couple every year - but this one is likely to pass right over us. And I mean right over - the current prediction puts the path centerline right on top over our home.
It will be fine. Buildings and infrastructure is all built with typhoons in mind. But I foresee a couple of days spent indoors, watching the storm, practicing the #Sanshin and going through my Steam library.

We're having a #typhoon today. My workplace #OIST is closed for the day, and you don't want to go outside if you can avoid it.
Some quality time with my #sanshin and my #SteamDeck is in my near future, I suspect. Life could certainly be worse.

A colleague brings their #Flair #Espresso maker to work these days.
And combined with an #1ZPresso K grinder and good beans it makes a *really* tasty espresso. As in, I'd happily pay 600 yen for it in a cafe kind of good. And the whole process is a lot of fun, if a little heavy on the prep and cleaning.
I need to get one of my own methinks.

1/2 #google search on mobile tops the page with its own information about the search term.
#Famotidine is a very safe H2 blocker that I use for heartburn when running. #Ranitidine is a different H2 blocker that was recalled over serious safety issues.
Here's screenshots from a mobile Google search for famotidine, with a question about safety; and the actual web page it refers to:
