  1. The one thing I actually bought at #HARDOFF today was a wall switch.

The first photo is what a normal Japanese wall switch looks like. Panasonic (National) basically has a lock on the home electrics market in Japan, everyone has the same stuff.

The second photo is the one I bought. Aside from a funky design, what's different about it?

  2. Today they had a Sony Data Discman EBXA electronic book reader. With a disc in it! Sadly the display was toast.

  3. Lovely SCSI scanner in the box. Love the “_Real_ 1200dpi" branding - no interpolation here! Requires a Power Mac with System 7.5 or up (漢字Talk 7.5)

For some reason - a Deutsche Bahn ICE mouse? No wireless receiver for it though.

And what I presume is a PC AT keyboard?

  4. Guh... An 11 yen (10 cent) CRT at #HARDOFF. First time I've seen a CRT for sale!

But the label says "turns on but randomly turns off"...

  5. I want all these #HARDOFF goods so bad, but 770 yen for plastic boxes that should be sold at the 100 yen store… I'll wait until these show up for cheap at HARD OFF... uhh oh wait…

  6. This Panasonic Movie Printer NV-MP1 looks cool! Print screenshots from movies!

Also really love the look of this VHD player. Where did all the red electronics go?

Remember when your mom said watching TV that close would ruin your eyes? Well someone made a product to automatically shut the TV off if you sat too close to the TV!

I feel like these speakers were modified by the previous owner.. just a feeling…

  7. Same #hardoff, same price. Big Gundam fan here. Used to play with Gunpla when I was young too (after getting bored with cars and planes). Love the anime how the good are not always good and the bad are not always bad (not the ones made for kids).

  8. Terminator 2 LaserDisc Single. No idea what is on it, can only store 20mins of video. But hey, it was there for ¥100 and I don't have any LD Singles yet. Found at #hardoff JUNK section. And when I went to pay for it, I got a nice suprise...

  9. PC-Engine Core Grafx II. The best looking #pcengine? Found this in the back of a JUNK shelf at #hardoff. Sold as "JUNK" because it doesn't come with an AV cable and PSU. Gas from the cable melted the case on the bottom a bit before they repacked it. Can't hurt to have 1 more...

    JPY 11000

  10. HORI PlayStation Pocket Controller. Made for kids? Actually feels quite nice in my hands (I don't have big hands). The buttons are a little translucent, but are not glow-in-the-dark. And it is very discoloured. We did see this controller in other #hardoff too, so it was kind of common?

    JPY 300

  11. I will will continue this post as a thread of all (or most) of the items I bought on the game hunting trip to Kyushu, Japan. I will try to list the prices of the items as well so you can get an idea what is being asked for which items. #gamehunting #retrogaming #hardoff

  12. In the previous #hardoff we found these HuCard looking cards for #msx by #hudsonsoft. 2 of my friends each got one, Bomberman and Final Soldier. When we looked it up later we found out there was an adapter that goes into the cart slot and the "Bee Cards" would then go in there. And see what we found here!

  13. #hardoff Yamada, #kyushu. Not as much as Shingu, but some special stuff. Hello Kitty #dreamcast, #superfamicom Box in very good condition! Really not buying anything this time. #gamehunting #retrogaming

  14. Hit a #hardoff with a book off next to it. The bookoff didn't have much, Hard-Off was also meager. But one of my friends bought a PSVR1 as "JUNK" for ¥2200. Works, but the cushion foam was no longer good. #gamehunting #retrogaming

  15. Slow day, already 15:00 and we only just visited the first #hardoff of the day. Big one, but very little inside. I did find Zero 4 Champ RR for #snes. No high serial Super Famicoms unfortunately, still looking for a 1CHIP to replace my probably broken one. I also got a #pcengije mini USB PSU.

  16. Ummm… WTF???

(this one is getting its own thread once I get it home and take a closer look)

  17. Went to #HARDOFF to pick something up, and ran across this beauty… a #Palm IIIc for $15! Complete with a keyboard, Pilot Pentopia stylus, modem, mobile phone data adapter and a pair of chargers.

The store description said "the display is somewhat dark” but I think the staff just don’t know how to adjust the brightness on a Palm, after long-pressing the power button and adjusting it up it looks gorgeous!

Power and Datebook buttons are stiff. Puffy battery?

  18. When I used to read Record Collector, I loved the look of the Japanese CD singles, but couldn't justify the price.

So when I went to #Japan, I had to buy one. The joy of #HardOff!

  19. Probably the last #hardoff i get to visit on this trip. This one was near Koenji station (Tokyo),was very small and had very little #retrogaming wise. We did have some really good udon in the neighbourhood. So still a score!

  20. A working laser disc player for $35... If only I had the space.

  21. Meet the Human Test (ヒューマンテスト)

Ran across this odd device at #HARDOFF and snapped a shot. Went to my favorite haunt for a drink that evening and discussed it with a friend who works the bar there, and she got really excited to play with it so I went back the next day and picked it up

Together we couldn’t find a single mention on this device online by name or the HARD OFF label 「診断機」, which intrigued me. There’s also no reference to a manufacturer on or in the device
