#rosacea is one of those contrarian conditions where the ingredient that’s a miracle for one person’s rosacea is apocalyptic for another’s, so you go looking for products that are considered good for rosacea and no matter which type of rosacea you have you’ll have to wade through masses of stuff that’s actively bad for your particular rosacea. No signal at from that designation, only noise. 🙄
This post brought to you by niacinamide/B3 and panthenol/B5, which are the current hero ingredients and getting put in all the skincare and makeup, but set *my* face on fire.

So very well-deserved! 🥳

I’m on my way home from my first #PyConUS, which was as fun and friendly as I’d expected ❤️🐍❤️. Always great to meet folks IRL whom I’d previously only known through Discord et al (especially so many @pyladies!), and to see folks I’ve been lucky enough to get know before at @pybay, @NorthBayPython, or @pybeach.
And kind of a trip to hear Travis Oliphant refer several times to work Paul Dubois did in the 90s on Numerical Python, when in the 90s I only knew Paul as “Friend’s dad who drives us to the movies and helps with Mortal Kombat”!

I’ve knitted a pair of #Python socks for the #PyLadies Auction @ #PyConUS 2026! They fit a US women’s 7.5-9 shoe or men’s 6-7.5 (about 23.8-25.1 cm foot length, depending on width/instep etc.).
The yarn is composed of:
52% Silk
24% Mohair
20% Merino
4% ViscoseThe cat’s paws and tail are not included; she’s still using them.

Watching last week’s #AllCreatures and suddenly there’s Emma Thompson, somehow looking younger than she did in 1995? So I look up the cast, and sure enough, that’s Emma’s daughter. But it’s so disconcerting trying to convince my brain that she’s not Emma. It’s not just that she’s wearing Emma’s face, but every expression and tilt of the head. Clone Club for days. Holy shit. Her genome was like “Cheers Dad, but I’m good. Going on all in on Mum, actually.”

You’d think the cable’s loop exists to indicate “Cat’s face goes here”.

Watching the #Python documentary and playing “Count the #SplitKeyboards” 🩷
(Truly my people!)

ZSA is really good at #keyboards 😍, and really bad at capitalism* 😁. I broke a part on my #ZSAVoyager and emailed to buy a replacement PCB (1/3 the total cost of the board!). I didn't ask about using the warranty because I'd made some mods that voided the warranty ages ago, but they looked up my order, saw it was still under warranty, and said they'd apply it. I thanked them and said I'd voided the warranty so I'd just pay for the replacement, but they said the mods I'd made wouldn't have caused the problem so if it would be okay with me they'd like to cover it anyway.
*I love them for this

The patio tables at most cafes make the perfect surface to put my magnetic keyboard stands on. 😁

The Open Source Program Office at the University of California is hiring a Programs Specialist: https://recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/JPF02893 This role will work directly with me! I'm not on the hiring team, and I only joined the team two weeks ago, so I'll be of limited help in answering questions about the role, though. 😁
The JD says the location is Santa Barbara, but I do know they're willing to consider remote for the right candidate.

Just found myself considering when/whether to work on a particular blog post that’s been bobbing about in my brain, and I answered myself with “Now is better than never. Although never is often better than *right* now.”
I have been assimilated.
