I’ve knitted a pair of #Python socks for the #PyLadies Auction @ #PyConUS 2026! They fit a US women’s 7.5-9 shoe or men’s 6-7.5 (about 23.8-25.1 cm foot length, depending on width/instep etc.).
The yarn is composed of:
52% Silk
24% Mohair
20% Merino
4% ViscoseThe cat’s paws and tail are not included; she’s still using them.

Two lists I keep in #Obsidian that punch way above their weight in saving me headspace and/or money
⁃ Things to Try Sometime: the kind of thing I used to keep open in a tab because I totally want to do them but not today (and yes, I do back and try some of them later!)

CW: Loose baby teeth
The Langdon Lemma (8) has a pretty short list of acceptable foods (#NeuroSparkly), and one of the entries is frozen chicken nuggets *in their frozen state*. He’s had a loose tooth and can’t stand to feel them wiggle, though, so for the last six or so weeks he’s only accepted very soft foods. Last night it finally fell out, though, and just now he did an entire happy dance about being able to eat frozen nuggets again. Happy for the little weirdo (complimentary). 🎉

Omg y'all, I just realized that since I turned 40 I can't win a #FieldsMedal! Of course almost no one does win one, but the fact that I *can't* is so incredibly freeing. Like it can just be all the way off my radar, nothing to do with me at all. There was essentially zero chance that I would ever do anything significant anyway, but somehow the contest culture still loomed in dark corners of my mind.
Omg I might be able to go back to math someday.

The Open Source Program Office at the University of California is hiring a Programs Specialist: https://recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/JPF02893 This role will work directly with me! I'm not on the hiring team, and I only joined the team two weeks ago, so I'll be of limited help in answering questions about the role, though. 😁
The JD says the location is Santa Barbara, but I do know they're willing to consider remote for the right candidate.

Six years ago today I went in for a “version”, which is when they grab your misaligned fetus (mine was sideways 😳) in your belly and shove on it until it’s facing the right way for delivery. It’s pretty horrible. After they finished my Cirque du Soleil baby turned sideways the *other* direction, so they had to do it again, and then they put me in a corset, which I subsequently *labored* in, so he wouldn’t be able to move around further.
#Birthing, man.
