  1. Do you have a copy of the original 1973 hardback edition of MTW's Gravitation you're willing to part with? I will give it a good home in my library. I have the softcover edition and the 2017 hardback edition, but can't find a copy of the original hardcover edition. It has sentimental value to me. Thanks! #ITeachPhysics #Physics #MTW #Gravitation

  2. At 21:00 EST (01:00 UTC) tonight I'm doing a live OPTYCs workshop demonstrating an actual citizen science observation of asteroid 433 Eros. The workshop is free, but registration is required. Target audience is TYC physics and astronomy faculty, but HS and four-year faculty are welcome. #OPTYCs #Unistellar #Asteroid #Eros #Asteroid

  3. My NSF funding was terminated but I still need to attend AAPT national meetings! Please consider helping me continue my work with two-year college physics and astronomy faculty around the country! I pledge complete transparency and fiscal responsibility. I will appreciate and acknowledge all contributions! #ITeachPhysics #AAPT #OPTYCs #Physics #Workshops #CommunityCollege

  4. Non-doctoral TYC physics faculty are especially encouraged to attend! #ITeachPhysics #TYC #OPTYCs #PER

  5. Our NSF grant was terminated, but OPTYCs isn’t going anywhere. Our Continuing Professional Development Workshps continue! TYC (aka community college), as well as HS and FYC/UNI, physics faculty, are invited to attend FREE workshops! We also host PER (Physics Education Research) sessions! #ITeachPhysics #TYC #OPTYCs #PER

  6. This is a reminder that this Saturday, OPTYCs presents a free workshop on Matter & Interactions by Chabay, Sherwood, Titus, and Spicklemire. Aaron Titus and I will facilitate. M&I was first implemented here in North Carolina as a TYC curriculum and is a viable, modern calculus-based physics curriculum for TYC students. Please join us! #ITeachPhysics #Pedagogy #Andragogy #ModernCurriculum #CommunityCollege #TYC #OPTYCs

  7. If intro physics were taught in a modern way, this is how it would look, with action principles. Veritasium’s new video is excellent. #ITeachPhysics #Action #Lagrangian #EulerLagrange

  8. OPTYCs (Organization for Physics in Two-Year Colleges) is funded by NSF DUE 2212807 and we are looking for TYC faculty to apply for our Leadership Institute, New Faculty Development Series, and Creating Environments that Reach Every Student cohort programs. These are 16 month, 12 month, and 24 month programs respectively. DM me or see the website! #ITeachPhysics #TwoYearCollegePhysics #CommunityCollegePhysics #OPTYCs #AAPT

  9. If you teach multivariable calculus, do you incorporate differential forms as an option to traditional vector calculus? Just curious. #ITeachMath #Calculus #VectorCalculus #DifferentialForms

  10. OPTYCs is an NSF funded (DUE-2212807) project to establish a nationwide institute for two-year college physics and astronomy faculty in the U. S. See our website for all of our initiatives and upcoming events, workshops, etc. #OPTYCs #ITeachPhysics

  11. Do you teach at a two-year college? Want to learn how to integrate LaTeX into your intro physics class? I'm doing a free (registration required) Zoom workshop, sponsored by OPTYCs and funded by NSF-DUE-2212807) on Friday, June 14, 1400-1600 EDT (1800-2000 UTC). All are welcome! #OPTYCs #TeXAndLaTeX #TeXLaTeX #ITeachPhysics

  12. At the 2025 AAPT Winter Meeting in St. Louis, MO, OPTYCs is looking for presenters to facilitate a workshop on implementing sensor-based physics in the train-the-trainer model where participants will train to be workshop facilitators. Compensation will be provided for travel costs, workshop fees, lodging (two nights for full-day workshop), and an honorarium. Hit me up if you're interested! #ITeachPhysics #AAPT #OPTYCs

  13. The next OPTYCs (Organization for Physics in Two-Year Colleges) professional development workshop is Wednesday, Feb. 21, 16:00-18:00 EST (21:00-23:00 UTC). FREE! Registration closes at 16:15 EST (21:15 UTC). The topic is Energy First, a new way to organize the introductory physics curriculum. The presenter is Chris Fischer (U. of Kansas). TYC physics faculty are encouraged to attend! #ITeachPhysics #OPTYCs #Curriculum #IntroductoryPhysics

  16. Students, if you’re having trouble grokking frames of reference, the next time you’re in a moving vehicle look into the rear and side view mirrors. The vehicle will be stationary and everything else will be moving relative to it. Compare this to what an observer standing beside the road would observe. Who is “correct?” Note the quotes. IF YOU ARE DRIVING DO NOT RISK YOUR SAFETY!
