Weil es öffentlich-rechtliches Fernsehen war, das in jeder Hinsicht Maßstäbe gesetzt hat, die von der Konkurrenz der kommerziellen Plattformen selbst bis heute nur sehr selten erreicht werden konnten. Doch nach „nur“ 2 Staffeln war schon Schluss. Die Geschichte von Sam Tyler war zu Ende erzählt. Statt einer Fortsetzung haben sich die Macher:innen für einen Spin-Off entschieden. Der wurde zu einem femininen Echo – über das, was übrig bleibt, wenn ein System sich nicht mehr erklären muss. (ARTE, Wh.)
