Back from Kagoshima, 焼酎天国. Enjoying Meijiguragenahu, a sweet potato shochu only available at the Satsuma Shuzo Shochu distillery in Makurazaki. It’s 74 proof shochu that you put in the freezer and drink neat. I drank this from the cut glass I bought at Senganen. #Kagoshima #shochu #senganen

Video grabbed from elsewhere on the net. This apparently happened last week, and shows #Sakurajima, a #volcano in the #Kagoshima prefecture of #Japan. We have a fondness for volcanoes and have visited several around the world, including this one back in 2018, but have yet to see an eruption. That's still on our #travel bucket list.

Our fond memory of Kagoshima was buying gin made with local satsumas, Kagoshima being part of the #Satsuma region. The enormous spiders were a less fond memory.
