I unironically say this a lot, so I will never forget this line from WoF book 16

[P] It makes me want to grab other writers and rub their noses in it. "This! Why not this??? Why do you have to rely on bioessentialism? Why are you typecasting groups based on how they look?? Why are you making deterministic assumptions about everyone in an entire species??? Read these books meant for children and DO BETTER." Tui has given me a taste of how much better things could be, I can't go back from that.

[P] Having read The Hybrid Prince recently and seeing how beyond excellent Tui always is at never, ever just typecasting a group based upon how they look? The complete, total, and utter absence of bioessentialism in her works makes me even more sensitive to how insidiously ubiquitous it is in other media. It's impossible to typecast any group in Wings of Fire due the variety of personalities and intents in each group.

[P] I'd had a chance to ruminate on why I'm so partial to Wings of Fire, this resulted in a revelation that left me.feeling particularly cretinous, downright dumb even. Oh, there are dragons, though plenty of works that I've enjoyed havenhad dragons. Tui is also a master of pacing, giving her stories room to breathe, pausing where ir's needed, and never once giving into the sin of dopamine engagement farming. Oh, but there's more.
