Umbau in den Aachen Arkaden. Auf Läden folgten Büros und jetzt die Fitness.
In den Arkaden, Trierer Straße 1, wird seit viele Wochen wieder gewaltig gebaut. Schon vor längerer Zeit wurden viele Läden in Büros umgewandelt. Jetzt sind alle Büros eine Etage höher gezogen, und die ebenerdige Etage wird in ein gigantisches Fitness-Center verwandelt. Ganz unten hat sich unterdessen eine Action-Filiale (Non-Food-Discounter) einquartiert.
Die Fitnessbranche in Aachen boomt, es gibt mehrere große Neubau- und Umbauprojekte in der Stadt. Eins davon befindet sich in den Aachen Arkaden. In den Arkaden: Umbau aller Räume, oder jedenfalls in vielen davon. Die Sache ist etwas unübersichtlich geworden.In den Arkaden hat sich das Konzept in den letzten Jahren stark gewandelt: Das Gebäude wurde schrittweise von einem klassischen Einkaufszentrum zu einem sog. „Mixed-Use“-Objekt mit vielen Büro- und Behördenflächen umgebaut.
An der Trierer Straße 1 ist schon lange eine große, etablierte Kette ansässig. Es ist das McFit Fitnessstudio Aachen Nordost. Die Fitnessbranche in Aachen boomt derzeit, es gibt mehrere große Neubau- und Umbauprojekte in der Stadt.
Ein ganz neues Studio soll an der Franzstraße entstehen. Es ist das größte aktuelle Projekt in der Innenstadt: der Umbau des ehemaligen MediaMarkts. Dort soll auf über 2.000 Quadratmetern ein neues, zweistöckiges FitX-Studio eingerichtet werden. – Kürzlich soll eine neue Vitafit-Filiale in Burtscheid (direkt gegenüber von Rewe Stenten) eröffnet haben. Haben wir uns aber noch nicht angesehen.
Die Kette WOF expandiert ebenfalls im Raum Aachen, unter anderem mit dem neuen Studio WOF 11 in Kornelimünster und dem Ausbau des reinen Damenstudios (WOF 10) am Hauptbahnhof.

ok so, i had to draw her. the name (Magpie), the colours... damn beautiful! first time drawing a WoF dragon, i looked up official concepts n read about hybrids, i like really hope the character's owner wont scold me for any mistakes if i made them... Magpie's a rainwing/nightwing hybrid.
well, this piece was another experiment. of a few ideas: scattered light but more cartoony/simplified than realistic, no overrendering ('tis my worst trait, i redraw n overrender n it drains my resources n doesnt always look good even!), keeping it all simple n almost flat but with some of that scattered light. plus bonus for using only one brush (ok i used one smudging brush in a few shadows a wee bit which is almost cheating for me...); also i always wanted to draw sun peeking from the treetops lol.
for now am looking at it and screming inside that i should've rendered it either into extreme realism or at least not left the scattered lights (WHICH ARE THE SECOND POINT OF MY PERSONAL CHALLENGE). so, fighting my own brain again, yay 🥲

another sketch ready (almost, i forgor the right wing’s part behind her body…). first time drawing a dragon from Wings of Fire, had to look up official concepts, still no sure if i did everything right.. this dragon’s a hybrid so 'twas even more difficult to figure things out.
