There’s an old word - maudlin - that neatly sumps up my current mood.

I’ve been reminiscing about #Wildstar, and how I made a ton of connections as the fandom grew around it. I remember the Arkship event in Brighton, the people we met, and the fun times we had.

And now it’s all gone. The game, the social media, the connections, the people. All faded away, succumbed to digital decay.

@stargrace Welcome to da club. I watched the video and immediately got #Wildstar vibes. Truth be told I'll probably just nub it up and use simple placement, but I'm glad they've got options for both types of players.

I dreamed I was back in the world of #Wildstar last night.

The worst part of a game closing down for me is the places I'll never see again. My beautiful houses, the fun things I crafted.

I spent hours and hours exploring that beautiful world and I'll never see any of it again.

@massivelyop To all the cynics: don’t be so cynical.

The worse case scenario now is that #SWTOR just continues to steady-state like it’s doing under BioWare. If #UltimaOnline and #DOAC are still up an running, it’s a good bet that #SWTOR will be too. Now, there’s a chance that they may even have _more_ dev work than before.

The worse case scenario in staying with BioWare is a shutdown. And then we’d group it with #WildStar under games we wish we could still play.

@massivelyop Yeah, I think we’re all on board with maintenance mode. Even as dismal of a state that it’s in, we can still play #RiftGame, unlike #Wildstar and #VanguardSOH, where we waiting on emu projects.

I will say the case for sunsetting at least helps remove some of the melancholy associated with seeing these dead games and remembering when they used to be packed. As opposed to just having memories of what a sunsetted game once was but not experiencing the emptiness.
