I played my first 10th edition #Warhammer40k game from The Ultimate Starter Set. Ultramarines vs Tyranid!

I was Ultramarines and I got slaughtered. The Psychophage is totally a monster. 🤣

Goopey nougat... I mean homemade texture paste applied to the base. Made from a small tub of sanded grout mix with crumbled cork and kosher salt chunks added for texture. I mixed in some brown paint to get it relatively close to Agrellan Earth since that's what I use on all the knights. I'm hoping after drybrushing it'll be close enough to pass.

I started reading some of the #warhammer40k novels to get an idea of the lore around Blood Angels. The quality is extremely hit or miss. Some of these authors really need to embrace "show, don't tell".

I'm really impressed just how much content there is. It's pretty amazing that people have taken what was basically a bunch of silly, tongue-in-cheek ideas and turned them into a universe. Then again, maybe that's why the writing struggles.
