Ich habe (bislang) nicht viel Berührung mit #Warhammer40k gehabt. Wobei ich mich natürlich sehr auf das kommende #TotalWar in der Zukunft freue - die ersten Gameplay-Szenen sahen fantastisch aus.
Weil mir #BaldursGate3 alleine noch nicht reicht habe ich parallel also auch noch in #Warhammer40kRogueTrader reingestartet. Wenn man Foren, Reddit und Steam glauben darf, dann handelt es sich dabei um eine bemerkenswert umfangreiche und akkurate Repräsentation des futuristischen Kriegsuniversums.
Vom Stil her erinnert mich das Spiel eher an die klassischen Titel wie Baldurs Gate 2. Viel Text. Sehr viel Text. Den ich demzufolge lieber auf Deutsch lese, weil ich des Englischen zwar im Groben und Ganzen mächtig bin, es aber trotzdem anstrengend werden kann.
Umso enttäuschter bin ich dann aber schon, wenn sich so viele Tipp- und Grammatikfehler in ein Spiel einschleichen, das zu überwiegenden Anteilen auf der textlichen Vermittlung von Geschichten basiert.

But that first Medieval game?
I remember being attacked by an AI army of the Papal States, jockeying for position on a hill, moving in response to the AI's movements on the map, and the AI deciding it was folly to press the attack and abandoning the fight altogether.
That was in 2002.
The game *cannot do that anymore* 25 years later.
So many setbacks.
Not to mention the "Risk Map" being a better strategy game than what's been going on since.

I got into Warhammer Total War 3 for a few days and started getting pretty good.
Though I chose the Knights faction and the general consensus online seems to that they're underpowered.
I keep choosing the lady night that fights the Tomb Kings and all the allies I'm supposed to recruit are dead by turn 5 for some reason. Rough.
I like the battle system and all but I feel like if I truely fought every single battle manually the game would grind to a snails pace.

#BrigandineAbyss - Take 4X elements from a #TotalWar games, and replace the battles and characters with #TacticsOgre or #FireEmblem, and you've got the right idea. Pretty niche, but if you're in the target audience, you might have pre-ordered just from that sentence. It has a crazy 24 factions , and I had a mermaid, an octopus, and a unicorn in my starting army.

To be totally realistic, talking military installations as targets that puts civilian population at risk is so passé. In a ‘terrorist; context, maybe, but in a China & pals Vs the rest contest? Nope.The concept of #TotalWar was born during the second world war with #CarpetBombing of highly populated areas. Sure, Arms factories where the purported legitimate military targets but, let’s face it that was just propaganda. Remember Hamburg, Antwerp, and many other cities, fuel-air and incendiary bombs. Yes military targets… right…
Another world war will start with hits on targeted cities in order to kill the will of a nation to resist an invasion. Whether it is through conventional explosives or nuclear devices, who knows. Maybe both.
So forget about strictly miliitary target, by the end of the first strike, there will be no will left to fight. Ukraine is a but an isolated example of what modern warfare is like. In another world war, nuclear weapons are very likley to be used. We’re all f*$% if this happens regardless where any military installations deemed ‘targets’ are located. IMHO
If warfare morphs fully into cyber warfare, then it’s a different story. But I fear that will only be one theather of war, not the whole war itself.
Gaad, this is so depressing.
In Sum: Nothing can be done to stop any nation from arming itself (either for defensive or offensive purposes) because that’s human nature. We should concentrate on risk minimisation, reform the UN and fully enforce (requires a military posture) international laws. It will still be a tyranny of the Majority, but short of miracles, that’s the best we can hope for on the global stage. Not stop wars, but contain and end them.
