“Idioteque” is a visceral song about climate change BUT b/c Radiohead are zionist assholes, here’s a brilliant cover by singer-songwriters Vienna Teng and Alex Wong (https://youtu.be/bKuAizCzoJQ?si=1NLT_e8FVowJHvv1)

Teng recalls: "I started singing these lyrics that almost sounded like a hymn or a psalm, 'somebody hears you, somebody knows you.' But I guess because I'm not religious my brain immediately went to marketing databases and surveillance."
Somebody hears you.

Coming up on Chronos' human heart (Sun Apr 27 - 7:30) is Vienna Teng's "Hymn of Acxiom."
A beautiful, unique - and increasingly creepy - work written from the perspective of a database, Teng's experimentation with a harmonizer has created a choral work that will stick with you.
Here's Vienna explaining the origin of the song https://youtu.be/tJyheSPtjoU

I really love the video for Vienna Teng's "We've got you (comfort)": https://viennateng.bandcamp.com/track/weve-got-you-ii-comfort-single-video-edit
The song is one of two, both titled "We've got you", and they can be played separately or at the same time. The link takes you to one of the two songs. The EP containing both, plus the merged version ("two truths"), can be found here: https://viennateng.bandcamp.com/album/weve-got-you

If you enjoy Wonder Woman and Teng's music, enjoy this awesome fanvid for "Watershed":

I really love this comment https://chaila.dreamwidth.org/548717.html?thread=9225581#cmt9225581 on what the vid expresses.
"...because the revolution is that *she loves you*, but that she will not change one ounce of herself because of it. The revolution is that she will *always protect you* but that she owes you absolutely nothing."

#ViennaTeng fans, I posted a bunch of this thread unlisted so as to be less disruptive to my local instance timeline, so read the whole thread for some links you might enjoy.
Concert is ending shortly. Am allowing myself to daydream - she is so multidisciplinary in her work so someday I might get to collaborate with her on something? Software, comedy, a convening, a curriculum, who knows?

She's doing the self voice looping thing for "Whatever You Want"!!
I feel like I once read/heard her confirmation that this song is "Office Space" transformative work

Live free concert streaming now, Vienna Teng accompanying herself on piano. Thanks for the tip @elysdir .

#TodaysJam is a weird and nerdy faux-capella tune from #ViennaTeng called "The Hymn of the Acxiom"

Nice! Just heard a #ViennaTeng song #LevelUp as a song for an ad (PSA?) for #Michigan, which I guess makes sense since she's called #Detroit home for a good while now. @viennateng is one of my "cornerstone" musicians, that is, one of those through whom I trace a lot of my own musical genealogy.

Who are some #MusicalArtists that have been the most (long-lasting) influential to you, the way you think, the way you feel, the way you live & move in the world, most influential on the way your musical genealogy has moved?
